Hi all

I am planning a trip to the USA over new year and am looking for recommendations for hotels in Memphis as they all seem to be REALLY expensive (so I won't be able to afford anything else!) or a dodgy looking motel reminiscent of the one in From Dusk 'Til Dawn

Has anyone been and if so is there anywhere they would recommend?  We want to be near Downtown rather than miles out in the sticks.  I have looked on tripadvisor etc etc but any other personal recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Haven't been to Memphis myself but the best travel forum i have ever used is one called "The virtual tourist"

You will have members that live in Memphis come along and give you all the advice you need plus many others, i have travelled to some wierd and very wonderful places such as very remote islands throughout the world that some travel agents haven't even heard of, gone on the site to ask about things and had lots replies from like minded travellers giving super advice.

Good luck in finding that dodgy looking Dusk til Dawn hotel...looks great although wouldn't fancy mixing with the residents ! :)
