Just back from the vet yet again, OH walked the dogs in this morning and commented Jake was limping. I checked his foot and he has a deep gash about half and inch long. The vet has stuck it back together and he has a fetching blue boottie!!
The dark weather for early morning walks is proving expensive, we are back on wednesday to see if we have got away with stitches, if not its sedation and stitches and a knock on the old pet plan ins.
Anyoe want a young collie for lead walks only?? what no takers??

One of my Dobermann's cut her foot in the snow earlier this year and had to wear a boot for about 3 weeks, along with lead only walks. Trying to keep the foot dry was an absolute nightmare, even just going into the garden to toilet was a pain. You have my sympathies!!!
Well I like a challenge but a collie on lead walks only is a different ball game!!!!!!!!
Hope it knits together well asap :)
Yes this morning OH got up put my CS (Whistler) on the lead and left Jake - he was distraught!!
Moped about until I got up EARLY!! and took him in the car to the local park.
My boots were in the wrong car!! Meet Colin & Whistler who jumped all over me dog not OH. Now Im sat in my office, wet feet, my clean shirt is on the rad in the loo and Im wearing a fetching BCL bottle green Tshirt!! Good job they do it in XXL to get over my B--bs!
Oh joy thats am day 1 - 6 more to go.

hope his foot gets better naturally and further inv isnt required..
As for dirty feet on dogs ..yikes we've got a good few months othat to come ..love the autumn hate the wet weather esp with my beardies can u imagine how messy they get !!:)
The cut has come open again and worse so poor Jake is at the vet as we speak being sedated and stitched up. On a practicle note any idea where to buy te best neoprene booties!
Thanks all Ive ordered some and OH has gone to the vet to collect him as we speak, dozy dog approaching.

Awwwww bless him.At least he may sleep through the firworks tonight.
Sheila.
He's just staggered around a bit had a sip of water and flaked out. Antibiotics for 10 days, vet Sunday and again the following sunday. LEAD WALKS - pergatory for all of us that is he is so active. Plus £228 so far - Im so glad we are Petplan.

Sorry to hear about Jake's troubles, all this sounds like deja vu. We had this in the summer--I suppose you could say we were "lucky" because there wasn't quite so much rain and our Jack is a model patient (e.g. fairly wimpish, loved being carried and was only too happy to play the long suffering pet). Hope things improve for you! x

ooh Roni, looks like some good things on that site and just noticed they are local and allow GP to visit. Can see before I buy.. Brilliant.
Whistler, hope things get back to normal soon. I put booties on one of my dogs when the snow came, he hated them, but it was so much better for his feet.
