No, I meant it's not seen as a 'public' place for smoking...it is seen as a work place true, but this doesn't help them say your car is open to public inspection.

I can't see why anyone would think a dog was at risk of overheating if the weather wasn't warm outside.  

The KC advice mentioned earlier is to do with dogs overheating - I don't know what part of the UK has weather that could cause a dog to overheat at this time of year but if someone can tell me I'll be moving there.   Even a decent day for October or November isn't going to be warm enough for a dog to overheat - it might be warm inside - pleasantly warm - certainly not dangerous.  

As for the legal angle - I'd be interested if someone can link to anything about any law against leaving your dog in a car.

Ive been to some shows where the building is heated and there is an extra loud tannoy going off all the time, this too could stress a benched/crated dog. So what do we do?

It's not just overheating.....I have been to shows in the winter when the temperature is below freezing and dogs have been left in cars.

Stop leaving them in cars, lol.  The cold can be just as bad and why would you want them just confined there, pay the few quid and take them in the show.

True about the cold, you have to play it by ear.   The number of days when it's below freezing during daylight in most of the UK are few and far between - maybe one or two a year.   For a heavily coated breed a chilly day isn't so much of an issue - my Belgian Shepherd bitch will go and lie outside on a concrete slab on a November evening voluntarily - the same weather and my old staffy needs to be encouraged to go outside.    So long as people use common sense there shouldn't be a problem.
