Batleys cash and carry in Birtley are worth contacting. My local groomers use them .

I might be being a bit thick here, but what are you actually looking for? Grooming products to sell to Joe Public or food.... ?

I sell a couple of particular brands of petfood through my home-based grooming business and get them from the company that imports into the country. I can mark up the products quite well.

Batleys is certainly more expensive since they went into the Vital group. Easy people to deal with though.

I use Batleys for my dogs needs(not bags of food as I deal direct for that) plus bleach, soap powder, fabric conditioner and zoflora and to be honest I find them very reasonable. I dont buy much in the way of "human" foods as they are expensive compared to the big supermarkets. They do have the occasional bargain though.

Kind Regards

Hi I was thinking of selling things like brushes, dog toys, treats, bones and chews etc

Can you contact other groomers, not say in your area as they'd be direct competition, but out of the area so that you'd hope they would help.

From watching one of my local pet shops, they contact the manufacturer direct and deal that way and it appears to be the same with all companies, rather than one dealing with many products.

I've just googled the following and got some interesting sites up, worth a look
"dog kennel supplies" and
"pet shop wholesalers"

Batleys is good on all those items. I buy all my dogs treats by the box and it is a lot cheaper than shop prices. Batleys do a nice selection of toys as well. I bought a replacement harness for one of my puppy owners the other week and it cost just over £6 including vat, she paid £12 for the last one from her local store.

Kind Regards

I work in a pet shop, we get our stock from some main wholesalers (Vital Group, Best Pets, Croft and Co and Pedigree Wholesale) or direct from the companies themselves, e.g. Trixie, Kong Company, Hemmo & Co, Ancol, Ferplast, Collarways etc.
