Hi there,

I have an amazing little Labrador puppy called Tilly, who I have had for the three weeks.  She is 11 weeks old on Thursday.  She is very confident and intelligent and has alsmost mastered potty training, although now she has puppy vaginitis.

She is slightly small for her breed, bnoth her parents we stunning, and normal sizes.  She currently weighs 13.22lbs.  No ribs are showing and I can still feel them.  She loves her food and is on 4 meals a day.  currently using a miz of Hills science plan and Nature's Harvets from Berties (which is very good, used this food on other dogs with amazing results).

Just wondering if 13lbs is suitable for her?  She is about 12 inches at the shoulder (which I think is small for her breed).  This is the first time I have had a labrador, as I normall have Cocker Spaniels.

Any advice would be great!

At 11 weeks my working-type labrador weighed 21lb. It could be that Tilly is going to be a dainty girl and not a clod-hopper!

I normally reckon on a pup of that breed type weighing approx 1k for every week of age and gain a kilo every week - so she is very light, but that doesn't necesarily mean she's not healthy.  Just keep an eye on her growth and increase her meals as you feel she requires more.

How heavy was she when you got her home?

Hi Tilly,

I was wondering what type her parents are, do they both come from working stock?
Maybe its me, but colour often appears to make a difference to size and shape of a Lab. The working ones I come across are a lot smaller in black than they are yellow.
