Need some help - doing a cross word.

No one seems to know the answer to this question ( Hair on dog's hind legs (9)?

We have every other question right - except this one and its starting to bug.
its not feathering, dosent fit.

Actually feathering would fit, if there are 9 letters maybe you have the wrong answer to another question where the E and A could be reversed.

feathering has 10 letters!

Is there 8 or 9 letters.  You say 9 but you have only shown spaces for 8.  If its 8 then i would say its feathers.

Breeching?

Deffanantly 9 - i just missed a space out between the e an g.
