Hi all, just lookin for some advice, my girl had a litter of 7 last night, i noticed that ones bottom jaw sticks out slightly more than the top. Not a huge difference at all. He was lookin a bit small so i tried topping him up with a bottle, instead of suckling he kind of Chomps on it...?? Maybe cos its his first time on a bottle? In the previous litter from same stud no puppies had this.

Undershot jaws can happen in different breeds, and often go as pet. (Unless it is a breed that is required to be undershot.
I would never use a bottle on a newborn, as they need to get colostrum from mum. Try plugging puppy on to the lower teats to ensure he gets plenty of milk from mum.
Thanks for your reply. I keep trying him on mum, she does not seem to have much milk... I put the stronger puppies on her back teats first then put him on, but the other pups seem to struggle aswell?? I rang the vet then the breeder of my girl and they had both suggested to just top him up from a bottle if he looks to be fallin behind but leave him on much as much as i can, which is what i am doing.
In all honesty i may just be paranoid. You know how you get the feeling that somethin just is not right? You see this litter was not planned, she actually had the abortion needle (Alazin ) and it was only last week i had noticed signs of pregnacy, i was not expecting to find a litter at feed time last night! So i am worried, as i thought the needle had worked i had not treated her like a Bitch in pup

I'd be putting the smaller pups on the back teats Rhiannan.
Thanks, i do. I put bigger ones on to start the flow then the small one
what a mess! you must be in shock yourself! when you think theres going to be no pups you dont traet them like their having them so give her a few days with good puppy food and lots of fluid she should start making some good amounts of milk for them the more they suckle the milk she will start making ,i wouldnt be bottle feeding eaither ,if they are sleeping inbetween mum feeding them then their doing just fine ,are u weighing them to see if their putting weight on? that will tell you if she has any milk, good luck with them x
