Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Parking at Midland

A little early I know but, what concerns me a little is the parking situation at the show on 31st. Can anyone tell me the ground on which we have to drive on and park on. My caddy van has low profile fitted tyres, and there is no way they can handle wet grass. Earlier this year I have been towed twice, once off a wet muddy field, and then stuck going up slight incline in the snow. These expensive, totaly useless tyres just spin and spin.

Grateful for any info.

You mainly have to park on grass, unless you get there early and can park in the carpark on the right which is usually there for disabled members.

Thanks for the info perrodeagua,

I am planning on getting there nice and early, so will check out the parking situ. Maybe I can park close to the exit/entrance and make an early get away. Or find parking on a road nearby. Don't fancy being towed, so will pray for a good dry October.

Just for interest as well, would you know roughly how many people attend on the Sunday?

Cheers Sian x

Don't worry Sian if you speak to hubby nicely I am sure he will tow you off it it became neccesary.  When I get my pases I will let you have the bench numbers for my two so you can find us.

That is the best offer I've had in ages, I almost hope to get stuck now, just to see you giving me a push, from the rear, that's the closest I'll get. LOL ;)
And I'm sure I'll be able to find you, I should imagine everyone knows where to find the Brainy one.

Although the nickname is undoubtedly deserved strangely she is not known for that amongst the elkhounders and I am too polite to say what she is known for.

the number of posts should give a clue, 'verbal diarrhoea' is what I have been known for most of my life.

Actually I was late starting to talk, well over two, but have never stopped since, only enough to take air.

> but have never stopped since

I'm glad you haven't stopped since..and I guess a lot on here would agree with me...

See I can be nice..

- By Dukedog Date 05.10.10 12:30 UTC
I'll see ya there then, along with thousands of others.:)
- By Reikiangel [gb] Date 05.10.10 13:58 UTC
I know, i'll try and find a few.  nice to put a face to a name.
- By Dukedog Date 05.10.10 14:26 UTC
I suppose you have already met a few, if you do the shows regularly.
- By Reikiangel [gb] Date 05.10.10 14:45 UTC
If i have its incogneto lol.  i wouldn't know them if i fell over them.  I might recognise brainless' dogs so then recognise her but everyone else should wear a pretty flower. hehe.
- By Dukedog Date 05.10.10 14:58 UTC
I don't do pretty flowers, would a cactus plant do? LOL
Ouch that's prickly.

Well It's a small world, had a customer in the shop today buying an embroidery sewing machine to customize her own clothes with dog motifs and Affixs? and she met Duke and we talked about her 5 Shelties and Midlands came up and she too is there on the 31st with a mate, and said to watch her showing her dogs around the Sheltie ring. And there is a dog show coming up in Wrexham as well. All I need now is a dog (no offence Duke) worthy of showing. :)

There you go will have familiar faces there already.

There should be a plan of rings and breeds int eh main foyer as you go into the main building, otherwise ask anyone with a coloured jacket and a Rosette showing they are committee and they will tell you.

Anyway so far for your info us madcap Elkie folks are due in at 9am in ring 14,
Shelties 9am ring 11 (but there are lots of them entered), and Not Separately Classified Pastoral where any GSD's will be shown in the Best In show ring, not before 10.00am, all in the main hall.

Thanks me dears

Looks like I'll be running back and forth from ring 11 and 14 then. LOL
- By suejaw Date 21.10.10 21:09 UTC
You never know they maybe next to each other. Rings numbers don't always run seqencially(sp) next to each other..
- By Brainless [gb] Date 21.10.10 21:13 UTC
Yep tend to be in blocks fo 4 so may actually be diagonally opposite.
- By Dukedog Date 21.10.10 21:13 UTC
Then that would save my energy for other things. ;)

Thanks suejaw
