Topic Dog Boards / Health / KC online health tests Point?
- By peanuts [gb] Date 20.10.10 17:40 UTC
Whats the point of having everyones health tests online if the KC are not putting them all on for everone to see.
One of my girls was hip and elbow scored 8 months ago, non of the tests are on the site.
and had my boy done 2 months ago and only his hip score is online not his elbows, i have had phone calls asking me why i have not had them done, of course i have put people straight and sent them copys.
But what is the point if they are not going to put them all on?
Have spoken to the KC , their answer was that they put them on in alphabetical order , what ever that means.

Has anyone else noticed this?

quite a few of us in our breed had our dogs rested for gaucoma which was getting quite a problem in our breed
Now it is essential that we have it done and was passed so about 2007 but those of us who had it done  before this because we were worrid that it was creeping into our breed CANNOT  have it published on our health breed notes that are on the kennel club search
HOW C**P is that as anyone searching my dogs record on there would think he had nt been tested
yes YOU CAN GET IT DONE AGAIN  but another £45 i dont think so
SO who,s hot on health test the K/C i dont think

Welshie you can send them a copy of the document with the results on and they will put it on the system as far as I know.

All of my dogs results are on there.  Actually Calida's hipscore was on the KC website before they even got to my vets a day after the BVA scored them!

Champdogs introduced a facility for adding health test results some time ago now. So far we have verified just short of 11,000 results and take it from me, that is no mean feat! It is tedious and time consuming to check each and every dog and then said result but we feel it is worth the effort. :) When you consider the actual number of dogs (hundreds of thousands), let alone the number of results (some dogs have 7+ results) to be input in the KC database, then I for one am not surprised it is taking some time to add all the results. We need to cut them some slack. They will get there in the end but think for one moment - they are playing catch up with what must be millions of 'past' results in the pipeline and then more results come in daily. I do know that not all organisations/vets are prompt to provide the KC with the results and they can not put in what they do not have. I am sure they are doing their best and that all results will be added eventually.

all i am saying that a couple of years ago some of us in our breed saw that glaucoma was a problem in our breed but the k/c didnt so we who did had our dogs tested anyway as breeding as healthy as you can is important
from 2008 in their wisdom the k/c had decided YES glaucoma WAS  a    problem  and if you have tested will put it on your pedigree and when someone wants to check your dog/bitch on the k/c health finder tests they can do so
But those of us who tested in 2007 are NOT there  Aand im saying to get the results put on the k/c say you l have to test and pay AGAIN

Even if it is a test not required by them? I eye test my Papillons, it is all done officially with the reg certs stamped and a copy sent to the KC, but because Papillons do not HAVE to be eye tested, it never goes on the KC website.

And along these lines, a little side line, does anyone know if I can take a registered bitch to be eye tested WITHOUT having her reg cert? Surely an eye vet should be able to just put the details onto the cert and scan her for her chip and give me a test cert? It's just that I have a bitch on breeding terms so do NOT have her reg cert myself but want to get her eye tested. Again as the result won't be on the KC website anyway surely it should be okay? But I've always been told to bring the reg cert with me.

Thats odd as i'd be near the bottom of the list to have any results put on then. Did you have all x-rays done at the same time? I'm guessing so, which is odd.

Also very odd that your girl was done such a long time ago now and none are on the site..

My boy was done a few months ago and my surname is W, both results were up on the site before I'd had the results back in the post.

Putting the results in public view is an excellent idea if they are done correctly!!! I wanted my tests results put on champdogs and this was done quickly and correctly and it was actually champdogs who pointed out to me that one of my dogs results were recorded wrong on the KC website. Took alot of effort to get the result changed as the KC destroy paperwork after they have recorded it so they had to have proof it was wrong!!!

This is the same though with HD and eye test results that were done before they started putting them on paperwork, or for the DNA results before the KC made it and official scheme for out breed, though at least with this if you send in your test results they put them on.

Can your breed club not look at getting the Kennel club to put the old results on if the owner sends in copy of certificates?

As for Glaucome we know it is a breed problem and we were on schedule 3 (under investigation) but we have been taken off, even though newer cases ahve occurred.  But they have put us on for MRD?

we as a club haveput forward many requests for the glaucoma tests that were done before the k/c made it an offical problem but as i said those of us that had it done a year or so before this cannot have it put on the k/c health search results unless we pay to have it dopne again

I took two of my dogs for their KC/BVA testing and neither of them were listed on the KC health test pages 10 weeks after having the tests done, so I e-mailed the KC with copies of the test results and they were both added instantly

yes i know BUT  because i had my dog tested CLEAR for GLAUCOMA in 2007 when he was 2 and people wanted to use him at stud this was before the k/c  made it offical that all goniodysgenesis tests for ess would be recorded as either affected OR  unaffected with the results automatically added to the k/c breed records and k/c website  SO for me to make it offical that my dog has been tested the K/C want me to  get him tested AGAIN  and pay AGAIN!!! to get it on pedigree /health search on k/c etc  Have sent copies to the K/C of his certificate but they dont want to know they want me to do it again as 12 months before thy made it offical thats when my dog and a lot of other dogs in our breed were done as we CARE about breeding HEALTHY dogs
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 22.10.10 14:21 UTC
I'm sure that we were told for our breed that any dogs before the rule came into being we could just send them a copy of the certificate.  PM me who you spoke to at the KC and I'll ask the person involved in our breed who they spoke to.
- By welshie [cz] Date 22.10.10 14:46 UTC
cant remember who i spoke to also spoke to someone with our health cordernater at the k/c stand at crufts to no avail all i want is for it to go on my dogs pedigree cert will i will pay for and renew but mostly on the k/c breed health search  cant understand why there making such an issue over this i know our health co-ordernaters have tried and tried but to no avail the k/c will only give us who had it done a year opr so before they themselves made it a schedule 1 as so many of us were getting the test done as it was becoming a problem in our breed
- By NDQ [gb] Date 29.10.10 00:08 UTC
Don't forgot it's not just down to the KC, it's also down to the BVA to send them along quickly. The kennel club health and breeders team is a lot smaller than a lot of people think, and I imagine added results one by one can be very time consuming.
