Hi all,

Megan my small breed bitch is almost 8wks pregnant and i've just been stroking her belly and noticed that her furry pantaloons (love that phrase) are a bit sticky.  I thought she may have just wee'd and not aimed properly but it feels a bit gluey and looks pale in colour.  Is this a sign of near labour along with the digging and runny poo's.

It's perfectly normal in late pregnancy, doesn't need to mean labour is close.

Thanks Marianne,

I'm getting really overprotective now, and looking for any signs of labour or change of behaviour.  I think i need to back off a bit and just let her rest.  I'm sure when it does happen, it will be blatantly obvious. LOL

the discharge will continue to come but get more and more till there is long strings of it...my bitch had this for a few days before any signs of labour and it was very gloopy the morning she went into labour. As long as it is staying clear and not blood stained or green etc then it is all perfectly normal.

Sophie had discharge most of the way through the pregnancy, I keep an eye that she doesn't develop the shakes as Sophie did a few hours before she had the litter she needed an emergency calcium jab. You may have a few days to go yet, you will know when it starts
