Topic Dog Boards / General / Walks around Junction 7 of the M6

Anyone know of any good walks - I have a car so can drive - around this area of the Midlands?   I have Sat Nav as well.   Looking for something of up to 2 hours (Or more) in length, Curtis always needs a good stretch of his legs, Mia can't because of her op.

There's Sutton Park thats not too far from jct7 Great Barr Its fairly level and popular with dog walkers. Nearer to jct 1 M5 West Bromwich is Sandwell Valley. That has some good walks as well including Swan Pool. Both places have good parking facilities. Of the two Sutton Park is my favourite.

Kind Regards

You're welcome.
Sutton Park Streetly Gate is the closest entrance to jct7. When you exit M-way head to Scott Arms, turn left onto Queslett Rd then keep going straight over the islands till you get to the island with sainsburys petrol station. Go straight over that island onto Little Aston Rd and Streetly Gate is on your right  just past the golf course.

Kind Regards

I actually Google mapped it and the park is just over 5 miles from where I will be, so I've managed to print off directions and get a postcode too.   Hopefully the sun will shine now and I'll take peg-leg and the exercise junkie for a walk.

Hope you enjoy it. It really is a beautiful place. There are Deer in the Park so if you're lucky and there are not too many people about you may see them.

Kind Regards

Sue, my dogs have played on the M6! It was the year we got snowed in going to LKA. The traffic going one way was jammed up & because they'd closed the road on the other side for the snow plough to come through it was empty - at least the dogs enjoyed it! Quite an experience & I bet others have stories about that day too.

I've heard a few stories and that does sound like fun :-)

It did make me giggle though the heading of the topic and thought Christine for the sheer fun of it wanted to play in traffic.. I'm still laughing to myself over it...

Christine, enjoy your walk ;-)
