Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Crufts qualification - hypothetical question
- By CVL Date 14.10.10 15:28 UTC
Hello all,

I'm planning show entries for my new pupster, and was just curious about Boston.  Gundog day is 7th January...  And it just got me thinking... cut off date for Crufts 2011 qualification is 7th January.  Is that inclusive?  Or is the 7th January the first opportunity to qualify for Crufts 2012?  I'm probably tempting fate by even considering such things, but I just like to be informed :-)

Thanks,

Clare

Things like this is taken from the first day of the show, so if the first day of the show is not your group (yours might be 2nd, 3rd or 4th) it would apply from the first day...same as when working out if your pup is either old enough or young enough for Minor puppy etc.

I think LKA is the last show that you can qualify, but I could be wrong.

I think Boston is now the last show that you can qualify ..... but then i also could be wrong :)

Gundogs are on the first day at Boston so providing your breed has CCs on offer then you can qualify at Boston if the Crufts qualifying day is the 7th as could any one who is showing the following 2 days providing their breeds also have CCs.

Hmmm... thanks, that all makes sense, but I've just looked at the schedule which says winners of certain classes qualify for Crufts 2012.  I'm very confused now!

So am I, what is the closing date as far as the Crufts schedule is concerned?

We had this exact same discussion here a few weeks ago and I don't think there was a conclusion. Best thing would be to email or phone the KC and ask.

Claire,

I've read it that you must of qualified before 7th Jan
(4)    If it has won any of the following prizes in a breed class (as defined in Kennel Club Regulations for the Definitions of Classes at Championship Shows) at a Championship Show, including Crufts, where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed between 8 January 2010 and 7 January 2011.

I've read the closing date by post being the 7th Jan and online is the 14th Jan.. So having a closing date on the first day of Boston would mean that Boston qualifies for 2012.

LKA is the last show you can qualify for our breed as we have no cc's at boston

It's all a bit bizarre with Boston to be honest.  Two years ago Boston was held & finished a few days before the cut off date for Crufts, this year, the first day of the show was after the cutoff date for Crufts.

sorry can't answer your question though :-(

I havent read anything, I just remember the last time I showed there (was in Yearling so must have been 4 years ago !!) it was the first Boston Show and im pretty sure it was a Crufts qualifier.  Must depend what weekend it falls over.

Aaah thats probably why I got confused cheerz denny, are you going to LKA this year? It will be Draco's first ever show, nothing like breaking him in easy LOL.

no were not going, just worked out way too expensive, i think rhiannon is still going with her friends with the rough were doing boston and manchester in january
- By CVL Date 15.10.10 10:18 UTC
Thanks Sue, I'd read that but wasn't sure if it was between and including those dates... but if the postal entries close that day, then I guess Boston wins wouldn't qualify for 2011.  Oh well, I'm not sure why I'm even worrying about it... my boy isn't 6 months old till December!!!

im useless at typing what i mean into replys ect but will try best then some one will hopefully explain better than me,

to take a dog to crufts it has to be over i think its 9 month
as the class is called special puppy and special junior
9 to 14 month i think is still puppy class,
so pups 6month start of dec are eligible
after this they wont be old enough

hope ive made some sence

jayne
