Just come back from our holiday in Yorkshire and it was lovely. We stayed in a really nice cottage near Runswick bay that was gorgeous, there was also a footpath in the field out the back for early morning runs (Vic had to stay on his lead though because I saw a few hares in the field on the first day so was worried about losing him!) and Runswick beach a couple of miles away for lots of doggy fun and fossil hunting for the people. The cottage also had wifi access which was useful for checking what the weather was going to be like and planning days out. There was a good pub in the village (Hinderwell) too called the Badger Hounds that was very dog friendly.
We went to the Eden Camp POW museum and the dogs were allowed in all the huts were the exhibits were, I wish we had gone in the afternoon though because there were armies of school children there in the morning and I got bored of telling kids they should ask if it's alright before touching strange dogs by the end of the visit.
Flamingo-land theme park also allows dogs in (only in the part with the rides though, not the zoo bit) which was surprising, so we went there too, I thought they might be a bit worried by the sounds of the rides but they were good as gold.
The only naughtiness that happened was on Vic's part when we went on a ghost walk in Whitby, he howled at the story teller every time he did his 'creepy' laugh (I think he was just protesting at how rubbish it was, lol!)
So if anyone fancies a holiday with their dogs in that area check out http://www.rosedalecottages.co.uk/
The  dogs are missing the underfloor heating they had downstairs already!

A lady I worked with went on a camping holiday with her dogs, can't remember where she went but they were at a beach and it said No dogs allowed on grass, No dogs allowed on cement, No dogs allowed on beach- I thought that was very harsh and she was not impressed.
Most places atleast allow them if on leash and not at the beach unless you go further down away from the people. She said she would not be returning to that place next year- great way to lose business.

Pookin - thanks for taking the time to post about your holiday with your dogs. It is interesting to hear about places that allow the dogs when out and about as well as dog friendly places to stay.
