Did the vet not give you some advice on feeding an underweight puppy?  What are you giving her now and how does she like it?  I would feed Royal Canin/Arden Grange complete as well as giving her either raw meat or a quality canned puppy food for variety.  Also goats milk - most pups love that and can tolerate it well.  Depending on how thin she is, whether you feed scrambled eggs etc is up to you and how well she eats what you give her.

I think I would be feeding 5/6 small meals a day - as she begins to cope with larger meals start to cut back until you can get her back to 3 meals a day.

Registering her - as you have no knowledge of her background/parentage, unfortunately it just can't be done.

Hope all goes well with her.

Follow the advice above and must also make sure you see the vet asap and get her on a proper worming programme as she has probably never been wormed and all the food in the world won't help unless she gets rid of those nasties.
Don't be tempted to buy them from a pet shop as they won't do a proper job.
Well done on trying to help the pups, please tell those you rehomed the pups to, to get thiers on a proper regular worming programme too.
Can I just ask how you know thier age if you found them?

Thank u both so much for the advise.
I did take them all to the vet,I'm on benifits and the private vet saw them in good will.
Coz one died he said he would check them all over.
They have been wormed the vet gave me something that u squirt into the back of tounge.
He said there bewtween 11 to 12 weeks.
I have regiestered her with the pda and they checked her for that dog diease if they don't have there injections.
She is having her first injection today.

Iv been giving her 1 weetabix with lactol powder milk and also coz soe boiled chichen and rice.
And some tripe at mo I'm feeding her 4 times a day.

Can't believe someone could b so cruel as her and her brother are both blue and sooo gorgeous.
She seems happy and content as she is getting loads of attention from my kids and myself.
Just wanna bring her up the best way,as I have 2 boys and my partner don't want no more! So this is my little girl I an nevver have and the only tiny pitter patter feet I will b hearing again!! Lol :)

Thank u both once again and ur advise I will listen to
Regards keely

Aw Keely, well done you!!  It gives a glimer of hope when you hear about acts of pure kindness like yours.

I would be giving a complete biscuit meal with meat mixed through.  Also things like chicken wings, leg(uncooked, just take out the packet and give them it).  My pup wouldn't eat very well but I used to feed her 4 times a day and give her a chicken wing to chomp on through the day.  Raw bones from the butcher are good too.  Feed often rather than big dinners.  Sounds like she's already gotten wormer so you are on the right road it'll just take a while to build her up.
Good luck!

What a great thing you are doing for this little girl, well done you!! :)

As much as I am a fan of a raw meat/bone diet for feeding dogs, I think for you being as you have no experiance with dogs or their diets, the best thing I could advise would be a good quality dry puppy food with a wet food mixed in. Four meals a day. You could of course mix in raw meats/tripe, but I'm not sure about the bones just yet. Don't take this the wrong way, I just think ease yourself into raw bones if thats what you'd like to try her on, as you don't want any problems with this special little girl.

Something like CSJ would be good if you're going to be mixing in a wet food (It won't break the bank either! ;))   http://www.csjk9.com/

Good luck!!

Well done you for taking the time to care for these poor little pups..
Now you have to do your best for her. She needs lots of small meals and I think that as she is your first dog (I Think) I would be taking a meat and biscuits type of route. If your finances are not so good then really you cannot beat tinned Chappie and maybe the chappie compete mixed with it.
You cannot register her with the KC but there really is no need. She will be your much loved pet and I assume speyed in the fullness of time, after all she will not be used for breeding one hopes?
Also things like chicken wings, leg(uncooked, just take out the packet and give them it).  Much as I am a advocate of raw feeding it is not just a case of offering chicken wings/legs. I for one have a large breed that swallow these whole if given and that could be very dangerous. I know of one of my breed who suffered a torsion through swallowing whole chicken wings.. I do feed chicken but it is whole carcasses or chicken backs and necks that need chewing first. A hungry little puppy like this may be so ravenous that it swallows far too much and runs into problems . Do not forget that we do not know the breed. Raw bones must be suitable for the size of dog. If you feel you would like to raw feed then find out as much as you can first. It is not such an easy process and on  a public forum it may  be very silly to just hand out advice like this. Raw feeding pups takes some knowledge and I feel we should not forget that! Pups have far different feeding needs than grown dogs
Well done again and I wish you lots of luck and years of fun and love with your little one.. Whats her name?

> we do not know the breed

'her and her brother are both blue ' and the circumstances she was found - you first guess may well be fairly close.
as you say chappie would probably be easier for a first time owner especially at this stage.

Well doneyou hope it works out well. Yes I agree if finances a problem chappie is good I feed raw but agree with previous posters as she is your fisrt and she needs building up. Now complete foods then research raw for later if u wish

Not wanting to start an arguement but I had a good guess at what type of breed she had rescued hence the fact that I thought bundling the protein in would help build the muscle this litter has lost.  I wonder how all our dogs got here today without eating raw meat and bones?  I don't think they had blenders and dried food sitting round the fire in the caves and they certainly never got 'eased' into eating raw.  In saying that, I have a friend with a GSD which had to be taught how to eat raw.  She used to hang on to one end of the bone while the dog ate it so she couldn't swallow it whole so I do accept my advice was a bit off for a newbie and apologise.

I would never advise anyone who is not experienced with nutritional principles as applied to canines to experiment with a new way of feeding with a puppy.

The rate puppies develop there is not room for it.  Best start with a good complete food and then the owner can read up and learn about canine nutrition and if they feel competent to do so go down the natural feeding route or at least include appropriate items in a mixed diet.

if ive read it right ? i think cracar was getting at ...the pup should eat a good puppy food but also try giving chicken wings inbetween? to help build up muscle , i would do this too the pup just needs to be watched and helped when eating it ,i have gsd's and can be very greedy when i start giving them wings i too would hold them to make sure they were chewed ,but i give them much now as 1 of them carnt eat chicken and i hate to see her not having them even tho i give her lamb she wants the chicken LOL
