Oh how I love that CD is back.  For some reason, I couldnt get on here for a couple weeks, it kept saying "Internet Explorer could not display the webpage". 
But anyways, I have a bitch here who is now a special.  Reba used to seem to love the show ring, but now is basically sour to it and life.  I can not get her hyped up for the life of me! 
Part of this could be that her nose is out of joint because I am working with her mom to get her back out in the show ring as well.  But I always work with Reba after training with Cher.  But I cant even get the dog to play when at home. 

I am worried because I did enter her at a rather large show that is being held in two weeks.  I need the old show dog back, the old spunky Reba back.  Any suggestions on how to do this? 

I hear some handlers say how they would love an unspunky little dog to show, but they sure wouldnt want this! 

How often do you give her a break from showing?  It could be that she's just got bored of it?  I try to give mine a couple of months with no shows at all a couple of times a year so they are keen to get back in the ring.  I have found that if you overdo it with them they can just get a bit bored and not show so well.  One of mine recently had about 3 months off and she is showing better than ever now she has returned to the ring.  She never showed badly, but she was lacking a bit of "sparkle" before.  Just a couple of months of being the one that isnt going to the shows seems to make them really keen to get back to them!

The other possibility is that Reba is feeling under the weather of course, or that she's possible coming into season? 

Giving him a few months off was the only thing that worked when Henry got bored of it, I overshowed him trying to get that JW!

I would get the vet to have a look at her just to rule out any health problums. then do something else with her for a while.
Has something frightened her at a show?

she got nervous at Purina because it is a huge spectator show, and they (the crowd) was encouraged to socialize with the dogs.  But having a small dog, they would run up and immediately start touching her.  I did get that out of her to a degree (she didnt want to go near people for the longest time) and now she just doesnt want to be around kids. 
I just had her at the vets for her yearly physical appointment and nothing showed up there.  So health wise, she is good.

I think after London, I am gonna put her away for a little bit.  Not drag her to shows.  It hurts a bit, cos she has done a lot of winning, but if in the long run I want a specials bitch I need to miss a few shows.  I will see how she does at London as well, because I do know she isnt to fond of outdoor shows and London is indoors.  Maybe she will perk back up just with being inside again.

Hi Kory (mad waves!)

I'm of the 'time-out' opinion - they can get jaded after a while, especially if there's been any negative aspect to recent shows.  I know it's frustrating but I honestly think missing an entire season is your best bet.  Trouble with plodding on and trying various techniques is we risk putting them off for good which would be a great shame for such a great little dog :)

Really hope she gets her sparke back!

Yeah, I think after London (which is this weekend) I am going to pull her from further shows.  I dont have her entered anywhere after London, so this would be her last show of the season.  Get her health tests done and research some pedigrees! 

You should see her sparkle right now as I am having a snack at the computer and she wants some.  The best expression I could ask for!
