Topic Dog Boards / Health / Puppy problebs: blood in her stool :(
- By cockerpup [gb] Date 03.10.10 10:58 UTC
I've just noticed some blood in my 12 week old Chinese Crested's stool so we will be off to the vets tomorrow just to be safe, but does anyone have any idea or advice as to what it could be. She's on a bland tinned food that is fish based and she's still got a healthy appetite and energy. I have a year old cocker and have not noticed any problem with her. Any info would be great, thanks.

Is it just streaks along the length or is she loose with a bloody mucus covering the stool?

I was going to ask that - if its mucousy and pink to fresh red kind of blood have a look at my thread about my Bedlington Terrier with Colitis

Cuddles for your puppy xx

I should have given more information if it is flecks or streaks on the surface it will just be something hard that has caused a little bleeding as the stool was passed and if it were mine I would not be worried only if it continued.

It was just a few drops of blood after each stool had passed. She stopped almost as soon as she started and the vets have said just to keep an eye on it as it's common in puppies due to the fact that they eat everything they can.
Thanks

That is very much what I thought but it is always best to ask a vet if you are worried but also best not to worry too much as most problems are less of a problem than first thought.
