If anyone has a few minutes I would appreciate your response to the above. I am investigating changes in dog grooming and the dogs coat over the last 50 years and whether it is connected to changes in our lifestyles
Thanks you

Done.

I think more owners than ever look after their dogs better than ever before, grooming wise. I know I do, through experience of owning dogs and learning about keeping their coat clean and tidy, especially during moulting, when excessive hair can become uncomfortable for the dog, this is important. And I think more than ever the public spend more money than ever on their furry friends, and want what's best for them. This includes looking after their grooming, either by doing it themselves (time permitting), or using a professional grooming parlour.

Perhaps as a status thing for some people, young ones for example that look the part, see their furry friend as an accessory, and therefore want the animal to look as good as they do.

An increase in unusual, new breeds, that have coats that need more maintainance, would mean an increase in owners taking more time over their dogs grooming.

In conclusion I would say that dog grooming is booming. Either home done or professionally done.

Me too. Good luck with it.

Done.

I too think people look after their dogs more now than they used to.  I also think that breeding to 'show' line standards rather than the original 'working' line standards have made grooming more necessary and arduous in some breeds.

Wish it had been Lol,s! Could have cheerfully chucked the thing out. KEEN is my middle name but it doesn't seem to help much when this b..... comp. starts playing up. Still, did make me smile when I saw it x 4.
