I have a 8 month old scottie bitch which I feed on dried complete food the problem id that she never seems satisfied although I give her more than she should have according to the bag, she gets food out of the bin and stares at you while you are eating although we have never given her any food by hand. She constantly sniffs the floor and even when we are out walking she will pick things off the floor and eat them. any ideas?

Well, she could just be a natural scavenger and enjoy emptying the bin as it gives her fun and a change of diet, and she may be happy wiht her complete diet.

I have ot say though that I have always personally felt that all this manufacturer's garble about "Do not dare to give anythiing other than our food, or it will have serious consequences and upset the nutritional balance" is not the whole picture.

I tend to feed a variety, say veggies and ssometimes tripe and brown rice, but often give say a canned food most of the time. Some dogs can becme picky after they realise that there is more exciting food to be had but then i always think - well heck, that dog is right!!!

If she seems healthy and her behaviur is normal, try reading up on dog nutrition and feeding ideas, and then decide what you feel is best.

Don't feel bad about sticking to dry complete if this is what you decide in the end :)
