Megan (my small breed bitch) went to the vets yesterday for a scan.  The vet said she could see two pups.  Do you think she would be right, or could there be more.  It is her first pregnancy so i wasn't expecting anymore than 2 or 3.

Never say never. Being the first litter shouldn't have any bearing on numbers, and the smallest toybreeds don't often have more than 2 or 3 though. However last year one of my Papillon bitches was scanned -twice- by a sheep scanner who said 2 pups. She was palpated -twice- by a vet who said two pups. Then she gave birth to 3. (Two were dead though but had only very recently died.)

i think the number can be about right for the breed but you never know.

Hi , I had my 2 girls scanned at 28 days , one showed 4 and she went on to have 5 , the other showed 3 .... and went on to have 6 !!! How surprised was I as they kept coming !!!!! :-)
