on daily walk yesterday noticed a duck had fishing line wrapped around its beak, also a canada goose had some on its foot,I rang rspca they said they will send sombody to sort it.Well today a poor seagull was on the footpath looking very forlorn I picked it up and its leg was hanging off also fishing line,I took the gull home and put it on a vet bed in our shed also put water and food down I intended to take it to our vets when he opened at 4pm,sadly the gull died before i could get there,I am furious that wildlife and fowl also dogs are suffering because of this sport.

they are not suffering because of the sport, they are suffering because of careless thoughtless people with little thought for their enviroment........the few give the rest a bad name....just like bad dog owners!!!

We have a seagull who regularly visits our garden - I live by the sea - and two years ago he had fishing line caught around his foot but it was not possible to catch him and remove it. Last year he appeared again, minus his foot, sitting on a neighbour's roof and is still putting in regular appearances.

If you can find out who issues the licences for that stretch of the river, or pond, whatever it is, then please report it as a problem.  I know someone who lost their dog to fishing line earlier this year, a thoughtless prat had left a dead fish complete with hook and line, and of course once the dog had eaten it, then it was only a matter of time before it went rapidly down hill.  Poor thing had three major operations, one after the other, but finally succumbed to peritonitis.  So please always report things like this when you can, to try and clamp down on the idiots who leave fishing line, empty tins etc, it makes a bad name for those who enjoy fishing and do it without causing any problems.

Goingto find out today who has the fishing rights to this lake,I do know that the council own it,my brother tells me that years ago it used to be season only, but now they fish on it all year, kids not supervised by adults, not blaming kids.this poor gull though was next to a fisherman and he didnt give a dam about it,have keep the dogs on a lead now as they have had hooks embedded in them.I pass the lake to get onto the fields

Hubby once brought Ellie back from a towpath walk and I found a fish hook caught in her foot feathering, lucky she is a coated breed or it might have been in her foot! I hate people that don't clear up their rubbish - whatever sort of rubbish it is!
