Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Midland Counties - Prices!
- By Dill [gb] Date 27.09.10 16:30 UTC
Am I right in thinking that Midland Counties Show entry is a tad high?  and then they charge car parking and child entry on top    And lets face it, it's not the best appointed venue :(

It seems ages since I entered a Ch Show and it just seems a bit steep :(   and of course I then have to pay for petrol and feeding the hungry  crew - they can't get by on just a sarnie like me :(

Have decided that the only way to protest at the price is to not enter :(

Admission to the Car Park and Show is Free there is an entry fee for exhibitors which is £22 with CCs and £12 without and £2 for subsequent entries which is one of the lowest this year as far as I remember.
- By Dill [gb] Date 27.09.10 16:43 UTC
When I was trying to enter, it was £25/£26 first entry (CC's for us) then car parking on top plus a 'handling charge' of £1, which was going up to £2 for late entries   then on top there was a charge for children/adults.

At the end of the day the accomodation is only cow sheds, just like WKC and many others.  Can't see why the entry charges are so much higher than most other shows?

That is not what is on the printed schedule, think there is an additional charge levied by the printer for late entries but this is the schedule:-

Breeds where Challenge Certificates are on offer: First Entry with each Dog £22.00
Breeds where Challenge Certificates are not on offer: First Entry with Each Dog £12.00
Stakes Classes: First Entry with each Dog £22.00
All Subsequent Entries: with same Dog £2.00
Not for Competition: £12.00 (will be benched with their respective breeds)
Pre-Paid Catalogues: £3.50 (to be claimed by 3.00pm) [£4.00 on the day]
Caravans/Motorhomes: £25.00 from Tuesday, 26th October to Monday, 1st November 2010
Admission to the Show and Car Park: FREE
Please Note: There will be an additional charge of £2.00 for each first entry made on-line after midnight 13th September

Never thought of the Bingley Hall as a cattle shed but it does have a concrete floor.

Can't go into the website now to recheck prices, but no information was given re Free Car parking and there was a definite charge for children/adults entry - very naughty if free in the schedule!   As we've been having internet problems - getting knocked off and not then able to get back on for days at a time I didn't go to the schedule/pdf show catalogue.  Maybe I should have, to check, but then I was likely to lose internet and still not be entered.   Have to choose the shows carefully as money is tighter than usual right now.

Dill,

I entered online and there was no charge for parking or fee's for people entering. Maybe they hiked up prices after the cut off date? Who knows, but the entries were normally priced and only the £1 fee came about.

Dill, I copy and pasted the list of fees from the schedule PDF published by Fosset, to be honest I have never known there to be a Car Park charge at Stafford Showground for any show and to my mind it is one of the best, if not the best indoor Dog Show venue in the UK.

Are you confusing with LKA, where there is a charge to get people in, Cart Parking and very steep entry fees of £24.50 for CC breeds and a huge £5 for subsequent entries?
- By Dill [gb] Date 28.09.10 09:35 UTC
Brainless, if the charges had been nearer normal for a dog show I would have entered, I don't have that many shows to choose from in a year ;) many of the shows with CC's are just too far to travel in one day :(

LKA is entered ;)

but the Mid Cnts ones were not that bad, ti's LKA that is awful and I am only going as it is the Ch show debut for one of the pups in Lexi's last litter.

I like Midland Counties.  Its a lovely clean warm venue.  Now Newark is a load of cow sheds.

I've never paid carparking at Midland Counties either.

I go to LKA as it's one of the closest ones for us and quickest to get to ;)

Never know, I might even get to meet you this time, I missed you last time :(

Look forward to it, just don't tell hubby I had to pay to get him in.

I'd play dumb, and pretend you didn't know they charged entry. Tell him you've left all the money at home. He'll have to wait outside. He wouldn't want to go in there anyway, with all them women. :) Who would? :)
- By Brainless [gb] Date 28.09.10 21:26 UTC
He pretty much stays outside to indulge in his nicotine habit.
- By Dukedog Date 28.09.10 21:31 UTC
Can't say I blame him, sensible man, not sensible for having a nicotine habit mind, but each to their own. Probably needs it for putting up with scary monster. :)
- By Brainless [gb] Date 28.09.10 21:33 UTC
He has taught me to roll them for him using one of those little machines, he says it keeps my hands busy ;).

That's what you think he meant, I think he's giving you practice for doing something else ..... I know.;)
- By Dukedog Date 28.09.10 21:48 UTC
Good night scary monster, I'm off to bed to roll me own. ;) :)
- By Dill [gb] Date 29.09.10 14:51 UTC
That's the reason I put hubby's name on our dogs, he always joins me at Ch shows so it made sense ;)
- By Brainless [gb] Date 29.09.10 17:01 UTC
I suppose I am too tight to re-register all the dogs in both names (and pay £60 for the pleasure) and also pay to add him to my affix.
- By Nova Date 29.09.10 17:07 UTC Edited 29.09.10 17:10 UTC
Most shows allow two people with two dogs and many these days do not charge for visitor entry anyway in order to take entries from those with legally docked dogs.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 29.09.10 17:13 UTC
Thing is that my show girls are all in Open or two now in veteran, so I can only take one if there is no Veteran breed class.

Mind you I have entered two for Midland counties in same class (really feel there should be a discount for second dog as there is in Ireland and other countries), but have found someone Lexi adores prepared to handle her for me, hope they aren't judging in the next year, LOL.
