So if protection from the annual Lepto vaccine is waning over 3-6 months....how would you ensure protection for the following 3-6 months...?

(I was reading the other day about a vaccine coming out (may already be on the market..??) for peridontal disease..tooth decay...! How far have we strayed from Nature's original and perfect design of the carnivore..... if we could even consider vaccinating against tooth decay of all things...??

Just feed naturally and give your dog a raw meaty bone :) Even "dentastix".... dog toothbrushes....toothpaste for dogs...etc are ridiculous.... when you really really think about it :)

Those aren't opinions; facts are facts whoever tells them. Are you seriously saying that you'd believe the datasheet if it was published on one website but not another???!!!

Absolutley not, there are some brilliant and some not so good websites.  However, my information which are facts came from the mouth of a Professor of Immunogenetics BVMS PhD MRCVS who at the time was also Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Pathology.  So I actually prefer to take his advice and believe what he told me rather than any data sheets on websites which are most likely sponsored by vaccine manufacturers.

But everyone has to choose for themselves and I understand why people would take the info from NOAH and believe it to be facts - I don't but that is my opinion.

I don't think you quite understand what datasheets are; they're legal documents containing the facts (not subjective opinion) of any particular medication; the manufacturer's details, the administration instructions, the legal status, contra-indications, etc. They are the sheet which is contained with each pot or packet of a medication - identical to the information sheet within your packet of aspirin, for example. They aren't biased or sponsored - they are true information. NOAH publishes all the datasheets for veterinary medicines that are licenced for use in the UK: it doesn't publish unlicenced medications.

If you want to know the facts about a licenced veterinary medication then you look on NOAH.

Yes its quite shocking when you start to realise just who is sponsoring who.... and who stands to gain from shareholdings and grants etc..... and its a difficult process when you begin "un-learning" everything that you previously thought to be "A Truth"

There is a problem with Leptospirosis Vaccines
Beware the Smoke and Mirrors

If you read the paper A Shot in the Dark about the scandal surrounding the push to vaccinate dogs in the UK with Leptospirosis vaccines, despite the lack of proof of the existence of a Leptospirosis problem. You will find out that the drug companies conspired to format a market for their product with only anecdotal evidence of the existence of any Leptospirosis problems.
This problem of the drug company making a market for their product when a risk for the disease does not exist, or when there is a risk of vaccine induced adverse events, is not beneficial to the animals, but counter-productive for animal welfare.

," never before in the history of man has there ever been a greater medical assumption more responsible for the death and disease than the use of vaccines as we know them today".

Know the risks for natural infection, seek immediate treatment if your dog gets sick, and realize the germ is not the problem; the individual's immune system is the determinant. Optimal nutrition is the key to immune health. Prior genetic damage from vaccines should be considered.

Become proactive in the search for truth, never assume the medical professional performs due diligence. Poison is poison no matter if injections contain toxins, chemicals, heavy metals, viruses and microbial protein, antibiotics and fungi stats or genetically engineered monsters.

Oh but I do!

Then you'll know that it's irrelevent where they're published; the facts remain the same.

It's a bit like a recipe; it doesn't matter if it's suggested by your favourite tv cook or one you detest - it's the exact same recipe. It's not good in one case and bad in another!

I've actually had the time to read this now and although I think it makes interesting reading; unless I am missing something it doesn't show the strains in the vaccine cover the strains mainly found within the UK.  It also indicates that the vaccine starts to wane after 12 months, which according to my vet and all the info I have collated 'protection' wanes between 3-7 months.

Again, I will vaccinate my dogs in the way I was advised by someone who I know to be an expert in the field - which is not to booster every year and to titre test to establish whether boosters are actually necessary.

The thing is with websites like the ones in your link Jeangenie, is, unless we know they are not sponsored by certian vaccine manufacturers we can only take it with a pinch of salt.  And there is no way we could ever find that out!
