That is awful. Imagine how confused the poor dog was. I really hope they catch the person and make an example of them like the bin woman.

Someone is bound to recognise both the man, and his car. Hopefully they will do the right thing, and let the authorities know.
At least, with video footage as proof, there should be no problem prosecuting for abandonment under the Animal Welfare Act. They don't give very big sentences, so I would love for him to get the £20,000 fine. It would be great to hit him where it will really sting.
just saw this on the news..the police have the car reg and hes likely to face a heavy fine....I HATE people who do this to dogs...she was called Ginger aswell..so Im assuming they know who it is.

Great news, did think from having seen the footage on the news earlier that the police must be able to make out the plates. Hope Ginger finds a loving home.
I agree, she will get an owner who she deserves and not the piece of scum she had before.
Who thinks that bringing back the stocks and letting other animal lovers vent their feelings would be a good idea? I'd be first in the queue, but it might not be rotten tomatoes that I would aim!!
Not only should he have a fine , he should be publicly named and shamed, like the woman who put the cat in the bin!!
Peanuts
I don't know how they can do it. That poor dog seeing him drive off and trrying to go after him. It really upset me and I wanted to give her a home. i think I'd have to get in line. My friend phoned this morning and asked if I'd seen it, it had made her cry when she watched. i must admit it made me close.
They had better prosecute him, its clear cut unless they've stolen the dog of course. I think we would have heard that one though. If they can manage it for the cat they should manage this one.
And yes they should name and shame the git.
Aren't there some terrible people around? He did the dog a favour IMO.
Too true. No longer going to be neglected.
Yes it was in the express yesterday i had a tear even our old post man stopped me today to talk about it as I walked our two. B-----d is too nice a word, she will get a good home now.

These CCTVs are brilliant for catching this sort of scum. I'm glad they've identified the car, I watched the video and thought surely with a left hand drive it shouldn't be hard to find him. That poor dog, she must have been so scared!

Great that they've found them - that explains why it appeared to be a left hand drive. As a Christian myself I am deeply offended by someone who assists in such an act of cruelty wearing a cross!
I think they are scum and its now a word I would use for anyone but to do that to an dog is beneath contempt.
Just dont ever give her back, it was said she was going to be destroyed because she bit with incrowing claws into her pads its no wonder is it! what a shower of S--- they are. And def. not christian.

Yeah to CCTV. I'm glad there are so many cameras around to get scum like this.

Hope they are all hounded, like the woman who put the cat in the bin. Ginger is certainly better off naw, rather than living with scumbags like them. Lets blame the booze, what a load of crap. As someone said on the news story website, he wasn't working, the dog could have been taken to the pdsa for treatment. Words fail me!
>As someone said on the news story website, he wasn't working, the dog could have been taken to the pdsa for treatment.
That depends on his postcode. The PDSA doesn't cover all areas.

Thankfully they have been named. Bet they are scared to go out of their doors. Hope they rot.
Ohh i missed the name and shame.
I was hoping that they would, after all if they can name the woman over the cat they can name this piece of crap.
Right now there's a big section on BBC 1 news about the dog issues. Mainly for dangerous dogs though.
