Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Belfast - going or not?

So who's of to Belfast this year? If you aren't & you normally do why aren't you?

The highest entry is Boxers at 99, Cockers are 2nd with 92, Cav's are 3rd with a tiny 85 & Whippets not far being at 82, the boxer figure to me seems in trend with our entries of late (not good but how it's been over the last 2 years) but the rest seem REALLY low, also there are so many breeds scheduled that have 2, 1 or 0 entries!
Makes me think that next year will be very much like an open show, very few breed class, hardly any CC's, mostly AVNSC!

ETA - I look at amount of dogs, not total entries per breed.

Just too expensive.  Our entry with CC's (only second year) is 11, but we are loosing CC's at Leeds in 2013.

Never been would cost a bomb from the SE England to go, as it is its the same weekend as our breed CH Show.. BUT we do have CC's at Belfast

I said I was not going this year BUT have been talked into it. We have 2 back to back shows but even from Scotland it costs roughly £450 for the whole weekend.  Takes me 3 hours to get to Ferry port.

Now that seems silly & must affect entries at both shows?

Entries at Belfast as very very low, not sure if that is due to location or partly due to breed show. Entries for breed club are good, ever so slightly down on last year but only by a handful of dogs.

We are going taking the cresteds (no tickets) and the Shih Tzus who have tickets. Not a big entry 32 for shiddies and 11 for Cresteds. Was told that some of the ferries are not running so hope that by Sunday they will be ok. Going on 4.40 inthe morning!! Will no doubt be half asleep as it is around 3 hours drive to Stranraer.

Well done to everyone today, and good luck to all for tomorrow..

My boy got third out of three but the other two were Champs already but he did well just the same....BUT the best part of the day ....he got to get his photo taken with the Lord Mayor of Belfast because he was such a well behaved boy....the group he was with and the girls at the Nutro stand all commented on what a good temperament he had .....so if you keep an eye out for Our Dogs Ireland (free to see online) or Show Dogs Ireland (November issue)....he may be in one or both. :-D :-D

Cheers
