Hi

Can anybody tell me whether it is acceptable to get Black, Yellow and Chocolate from the same litter ?

I was under the assumption that if from a Chocolate bitch you should only breed to get Chocolate and or Blacks, from a black bitch, Black, and or Chocolate, and or yellow and a yellow bitch, Yellow or Yellow and or black.

Can anybody let me know ? If this makes sense !

Many Thanks

Lucy

I found this site interesting when I did a google search:
http://www.vetgen.com/color.html

Its a commercial site, but there are other links, too

Hi Lucy

You can get all three colours in one litter depending on what genes are being carried by the parents.

I think Jo floatcoat or John know more about the genetics so I would talk to them.

Thanks for the link RickM.

I have already mailed John the guru !

Thanks

Lucy

I knew you could get all three colours but wanted to know really the acceptance of this as I thought that you were supposed to look into the lines carefully to try and avoid mixing chocolate and yellows ?? I could be wrong !

Nothing wrong with mating a chocolate with a yellow. The result could be any colour including all blacks if you cross a type V with a type VIII:
