Anybody heard of this company before?
They appear to have good insurance quotes & I just want to check they are ok.

I used to use them but never claimed.  But I know others who have and I've only heard favourable reports.  Although I'm sure I read somewhere that AFI were underwritten by E&L, which prompted my move to Argos who offered the same cover for a slightly better price.

I have one of mine insured with them. Have also never had to make a claim. Both my dogs were insured with them when they were underwritten by E&L then when they broke away, I somehow ended with one insured with E&L and the other with Animal Friends. I've only today changed both back to E&L and our new pup will also be insured with the same.

I know lots of people have encountered problems with E&L but we don't really have any options with my boy as he has a lifetime condition which they have paid out on. He wouldn't get insured anywhere else. In my personal experience they have always paid out promptly and with minimum fuss. Plus the same cover for my girl was £17 with AF and am now paying £10 with E&L. What makes it pretty galling is my boy (who they have paid out £000's for) is still only £13 a month and i've been paying £17 for a bitch who I've never made a claim on. E&L give 10% discount for multiple dogs so it's the cheapest I've found.

Oh, and my dogs are covered for a "lifetime" insurance, ie, an amount per condition, per year, for life, which most insurance companies such as Argos, Tesco, etc don't do. I do stand to be corrected.

I have never insured my animals with them! But I will say stay clear of more than! I needed to make a claim with first cat I had (who sadly died), and they refused to pay the bill which ment my vet would not treat her until I came up with the money! But by the time I sold everything tht I could get a decent price for 3 days later it was too late for her and her liver gave out and she had to be put to sleep! Needless say I wouldnever inurwe my animals again with them and would never EVER use the vets agina neither!

I now insure my animals with my new vets practice. They also let me put mony onto my account So instead of paying them 90 pound a month I pay 100 and 10 goes onto my account! (I have about 200 pound on my account). this is idel if I have a short month and one of my aniamls ar due a vaccionation or I need flea/wormer, or if they need to see a vet and its not worth claming on the insurance! (ie when my dog got an upset tummy it was only 50 for the antibiotics consulation and and a week check up! )

Best advice is to make sure they insure animals thatare old aagainst most illnesses that occur during old age, and dont have the "loop holes" that they can refuse to pay up!

I insure with them and had to make first claim few days after the 14 days cooling off period was over.
Never had an issue with claims, we ended up claiming loads in a first year(about £6000 for broken pelvis) and our premium went up about £2.00/month for the next year.
They were definitely the best lifetime cover price for my breed, many were double the AFI price(that is no longer underwritten by E&L by the way)
They paid hydro therapy for as long as my girl needed it, not limiting to 6 or 10 sessions like many seem to do.

I even "broke the rules", did not tell them the bill was going to be over £1000 before the operation but they understood I was very stressed ( dog hit by a car)and paid after querying why I had not called them.
I know few companies would have not paid as it is clearly stated in the contract you MUST contact them beforehand if the bill is going to exceed £1000.

Very happy customer and insured the next dog with them as well :).

Samie, I am sorry to hear about your poor cat and think I would have reported the vet for allowing an animal to suffer, if they were not prepared to help even if it meant putting to sleep and did not refer you to the PDSA or similar I think they were not performing to the standard expected of vets. You were happy to pay and I expect they knew that, vets should be insured against loss of funds if they treat a sick animal and the owner refuses to pay, it is there duty to stop suffering.
