hi everyone!ijust wondered if anyone has any thoughts onthis.i took jess out twice yesterday morning, and during the two(one was quite a long walk)she mustve squatted and wee d about 20 times, just a tiny puddle,no blood or anything. She doesnt seem tender in the tummy area,is otherwise fine, and normal.could this be cystitis,do you think?Il add that she makes me laugh on a long walk for the amount of pooing she does, sometimes 4 ,all normal,so whether she sees long walks as a good chance to clear out,i dont know!doesnt seem in any pain,no straining,or "accidents".I read"somewhere"that if a bitch pup lies between two dog pups in the mum,she gets extra male hormones, and will exhibit male behaviour, such as scent marking, but only if spayed, might she be scent marking?obviously,il take her to the vets if need be,but given that she tries to bite them through fear and has to be muzzled,id rather avoid going if poss.any natural remedies i could try?thanks everyone!

Hello,
Sorry if I missed it in your post, but did you say how old she is or if she's spayed?
Some bitches wee a lot more in the run up to seasons. But like you, i have a bitch who empties out on a walk. She scents like a dog, even to the point of cocking her leg at times. She's fit & healthy.
However, my other girl, if she does this, I tend to whip a urine sample off to the vets. By the time i see blood in her urine it is normally quite severe. Normal coloured wee can apparently have crystals & blood in it that we can't see. (according to my local vet anyway).
Can't you go in, get a sample kit & do it at home. I do for my old girl because I refuse to let her pick up every germ going :-(

My experiences would discount this theory totally. I had a bitch who was the only bitch in her litter, with six brothers, so was awash with male hormones, but she was a very feminine bitch, an excellent mother and didn't change at all after being spayed. So personally I'd ignore that theory.
If she's squatting more than usual I'd give her lots to drink to make her urine dilute and plentiful to flush out her bladder. If there's no change after 24 hours I'd take her to see the vet.
yes,i could,im quite an expert at collecting wee!shes not done it today, just normal wees, and so full of energy,i was well reassured shes ok.ive been on the internet, checked all the symptoms, and drew a blank, luckily.shes 18months old ,by the way.im hoping its just a blip, but obviously,if i get worried,i will go to the vets.thanks .i used to have a bitch that cocked her leg,as well!
