My daughter and I went out to lunch today and got kicked out....The crime we committed was to complain about the meal. We went to a small place and each ordered a small pizza which came with coleslaw and green salad. Firstly we ordered a jug of water which arrived with something brown floating in it. After getting a new jug of water the pizza arrived and my DD asked for parmesan cheese which appeared to be fresh (but sitting out on the counter) rather than the kind you get in tubs off the shelf. She add some to her pizza and gave me the dish and I noticed mouldy cheese, I looked at her pizza and on it was some more of the green cheese. The lady said she those things happen but I'll get you a new pizza. When it arrived DD ate her pizza and started to eat her coleslaw but it was warm and tasted slightly sour....as did mine , I'm not a fan of the stuff but was going to eat it anyway. Then she wanted to eat her green salad when she found a hair under the salad leaves....(If it has been her own or my hair it would have been on top) Well when I told her about the hair she came round the counter and told us to get out....I told her wait a minute and she says no just get out...so we did...I went back to DD's flat and called the city food officer and made a complaint. I later phoned to make a complaint to someone else only to have the guy tell me she was the manager!...I told him if she had even apologised for the food and service I would have paid anyway as we had eaten the pizza....but as it stood I had phoned the city and thought he should be aware I would take it further if the city took the issue up.
Well now we are both having dodgy tums and quite a few trips to the loo I am not feeling to bad although I am still nauseous and DD still had sore tum. (It is more an issue with her as she is diabetic and doesn't fight infections well)...
I know a lot of hospitals will not deal with food poisoning but since we made a complaint right away and are now feeling unwell....should we tell the city and if she or I were to be more ill with it should we get tested to back up our complaint?

Cheers
Sorry long winded but wanted to tell the story before asking the question...:-)

I would phone the council back just to let them know you have food poisoning. I would also let your doctor know, even if just a phone call. The Health and Safety Officer should do something about this. You may not be the only ones.

get back to the council and always call the doctor if not sure.try some dialite as this replaces lost fluids.Iwas very poorly last year,i could not tell if it was a chicken sandwich i bought or severe gastroenteritus, basically i had an ambulance in the end, went toilet 56 times in 24 hours, passing blood and bile etc, screaming in pain, dilusional, vomiting etc,in the end i had pethadine for the pain and sleeping pill to help sleep,i lost ten pounds in weight, very very scary,it took along time for my tummy to get back to normal and having a massive stomach hernia made it all so much more painfull etc

The council phoned me this morning and from what she has said the restaurant is on their watch list already. They had done an inspection earlier this year and were due to go back to see if they had improved the standards. Because of my complaint they are planning to do another inspection sooner than planned, at which time they will tell them of the complaint and afterwards have promised to update me on what happens.

I did tell the lady my daughter and I were unwell after eating there and although it was not a serious bout....it was a bit dodgy for a while last night :-)

Glad to hear that something is being done. These places have to take the consequences of their actions. I worked as a silver service waitress in a couple of places (trained by the RAF) and some were a lot cleaner than others. You have the right to ask to see te kitchens, though they may refuse you. If they do, walk away. They may have something to hide.
