Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Bitches on loan

Can anyone help with the best way to have a bitch 'on loan'.  I'm fortunate to have been offered a bitch from a friend to enable me to have a litter.  Should we formalise this with the KC?  She can stay at home until or perhaps after the pups are born - I'll bear the costs and we can both go with her to the dog.  I'll be responsible for selling any pups additional to the one/s I want to keep.  Will they be registered in her affix or mine? I guess it could only be mine if we did it officially via the KC.  Obviously any buyers will wish to see the mum with the pups and she'll be happy enough to be here for that.  It's a great opportunity as this is a 'difficult' breed and I'm trying for a rare colour - but this will come from the second generation rather than the first so there's lots that can go 'wrong' - usually size of litter, colour of pups and size of pups (it's tricky to get them to grow to the breed standard, you can get them too small and too big in the same litter!).  Thanks Penny

There is a form you can download from the KC website that deals with loan of a bitch. The puppies then can be registered under your affix.
