i have been told that baby milk is just as good as puppy milk is this true?

no its for hunan babies not pups ,its made from cows milk and that can make pups poorly plus theres not enough cals in it ,hope this helps x

oh god i'm glad i asked now, can i get the pups milk from a pet shop or do i need to get it from the vet? i might not need it but i want to be ready for the pups jus incase their mom aint as its her 1st litter x

You can get it from Pets at Home, pet shops and farm suppliers.

Always a good plan. I've not bred dogs but have always had a suitable milk replacer ready when breeding cats and other animals. If the babies don't need it and mum is feeding them fine, you can always offer it to the babies later on, when mum is beginning to look a little tired and thin, to take some of the strain off her if the litter is large or she is doing too much for them.

If so I would recommend the book of the bitch which you can get delivered from amazon at a reasonable price. This will give you a lot of useful information for before and after your bitch has whelped.

I also give whelpi to mum when she has delivered for the first few days till she is drinking well as this helps to keep her fluid intake up!

Just be careful as some bitches can REALLY get the runs and lose a lot of weight if given milk -none of mine have been able to take it.

forgot to add that I don't mix it to the same strength as you would for pups for mum as like marion said it will cause diarrheoa. I usually mix it using half the amount of powder just to give the water flavour and encourage her to drink.
