Good luck to all juniors taking part and enjoy yourselves.
The eldest has been very busy with her work experiance this week and has only given richmond second though behind aching and being tired from working fulltime.
The youngest (rhiannon) is doing what she did last year and enjoying the run up to richmond but come the day i think she will be very nervous, especialy as this year for 2 reasons 1.she wont be using her normal handling dog (the rough collie) as he got stung badly on a very senstaive area (for the boys) last weekend and 2nd she made the choice to go into the working group rather than the pastoral group.
But we also have had a bit of drama about what dog she was going to use, she was going to use our older girl but due to her being mated and missed shes not in the mood to go to shows at the moment, the pup just has not got enough experiance to go into the ring with a junior, but im so pleased to say her older sister has step up to the mark and offered to swap dogs for the day so youngest is now going to use the great dane that eldest was going to use and the eldest is going to use our boy, im proud of the eldest of thinking of her younger sister and trying to make thing easier on her.
And on top of all this as soon as we are finished at the show we will be rushing off to go to a family wedding so there will be a a quick change into different outfits for us all and hope we get away early enough to get to the wedding, what have i let myself in for this weekend, im gonna need a holiday.
We had a lovely day last year, her first year in the Semis. To be honest, my daughter is just as happy sitting on the kitchen floor with our SWD or taking her over the jumps in the garden as she is the handling. However, she's very excited about it all, especially the free lunch :-D
I'd love to cheer on your girls Rach, shame I don't have a gundog to handle as well...
Don't know the rules but can you enter a handler in every day of the classes if you say had a dog to handle under each group? So say you had a hound on the 1st day, working on the 2nd and a gundog on the 3rd? So have 3 chances at the apple?
Hi Sue - you can choose one day only from memory on the form! and don't think that would be good form to go in all days really but some probably would !
Don't worry FB updates will be posted :) So what gundog you getting then - maybe an SWD for Emily to handle for you :)
I just want them to enjoy the day - which like CJ (Maddog) says they do :) especially the cake at lunchtime!
She can use Oscar the rascal Lab?? Any good?? lmao...
She or Jess can always come with me on Working day.. As you know my youngest was good being handled on monday... Do you sometimes end up missing out on the breed classes when doing JH at Ch shows?
We haven't done many ch shows again - Emily currently doesn't have a dog to handle generally as Maxy is out of the ring at the moment! At champ shows I tend not to enter Emily as finding a dog there trickier than at the opens. Although she may have a young gordon bitch on her list of dogs too now!
Bos was a star - maybe Emily have a go sometime too!
Things don't seem to be running too smoothly in the lead up to Richmond for us this year - Nephew and Dog both fine, but arrangements not going well so far! First of all my dog sitter rang to say she could not come in due to a family emergency and she would be away for the weekend, managed to get someone to cover for her, thank heavens, after lots of ringing around, then realised had not booked a hotel, place we stayed last year was fully booked and so were most other places which take dogs - amazing amount of hotels in that area are not dog friendly. All the ones which look possible sounded terrible when you read the previous visitor comments. Eventually found a country inn/pub which has some rooms, is dog friendly and only a few miles away - and had fairly favourable visitor comments :) . Rang nephew to make sure he had dropped his suit off at Dry Cleaners (his only "job" for the whole thing) and he has forgotten to do it - just hope he gets it there today so we can collect it tomorrow when I collect him. IF not, he will the the JH in the less than pristine outfit:(
thank you hun, i wont be able to let you know how they get on today as were leaving right after the breed classes to go to a wedding unless we see you there, try and make it over to watch if not i will post when i get home probally about this time tomorrow lol
