Topic Dog Boards / Showing / My first "brag" (not a big one)
- By SLF [gb] Date 06.09.10 16:58 UTC
Hello!

Sorry not a big one, but just wanted to post a happy post!

Yesterday at Birmingham was my pup's last minor puppy class, and over the last 3 months he has entered 5 MP classes, and won every single one :)

I'm really proud, especially as just over 6 months ago I had never even stacked a dog before!
- By NEWFIENOOK [gb] Date 06.09.10 17:08 UTC
well done both of you, long may it continue
xx
- By roynrumble Date 06.09.10 18:46 UTC
well done! hope it continues into puppy!
- By sunshine [gb] Date 06.09.10 19:30 UTC
Well done.  Could be on your way to a champ.
- By Sawheaties [gb] Date 06.09.10 20:56 UTC
Well done, every win is something to be celebrated! :) I really enjoy seeing people win who are genuinely pleased rather than those that stand with hand out expecting to get it.
Good for you both.

Great stuff...well done.

This goes to show - a great dog will always come to the surface no matter what.

That's no small brag, well done.  Consistency, must be a good one for so many judges to place him highly.

Seriously though don't worry when he gets to Junior and then Post Graduate if he starts to do less well, males especially can go through the ghastliest before they mature.  Very lucky are those with youngsters that never go through the awkward stages.

So many people who have done well in puppy/Junior and then place badly or even not at all in the higher classes give up, where the dog would have developed on and come back to winning ways had they persevered.

Of course if you have another dog to show then leaving a dog, who has got the hang of showing, out of the ring until it matures is an option, but if you have just the one dog it is best to continue to gain experience, just avoid showing when they're at their worst.

Well done you!

That is excellent and a massive brag SLF... to win 5 classes on the trot is not easy..   I would have very high hopes for this puppy in the future.

You are well underway for your JW too all being well..

Good luck

- By SLF [gb] Date 07.09.10 16:55 UTC
Thank you so much for all the lovely replies!

I'm ready for the gangley/awkward stage, and I don't mind, i will carry on showing as I just love the atmosphere of the shows, it's such a wonderful day out and I've met so many lovely people already!

Anyway, thanks again :D
- By Silver [gb] Date 07.09.10 17:53 UTC
Well done, that's a fantastic achievement :) Long may it continue!
- By newf3 [gb] Date 07.09.10 18:22 UTC
well done to you and your dog. xxx
- By Brainless [gb] Date 07.09.10 19:22 UTC
With such a great attitude to it, maybe you will be one of the lucky few with a dog that doesn't go off as it develops. :D
- By suejaw Date 07.09.10 19:30 UTC
SLF,

That is one heck of a BIG brag!!!

Well done and for your first show dog? I'm taking it is and to do so well is a great achievement!!! Keep it up girlie..
- By SLF [gb] Date 07.09.10 19:47 UTC
Yes, this is my first dog, not just first show dog!

I've been so lucky in that a lot of people have been nothing but helpful to me.

Here is a picture of my little boy http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=4616578&l=3f8b6315d6&id=286602494 and my little office angel! http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=4494844&l=c33dae1bde&id=286602494

Hopefully see some of you around?
- By suejaw Date 07.09.10 20:03 UTC
Lovely looking boy :-)..

We are never with Gundogs on Ch show days, but i'll be keeping an eye out for results in the future...
- By Brainless [gb] Date 07.09.10 20:06 UTC
Hey I see your local to me, as my Amanda Morgan is one of your facebook contacts.
- By SLF [gb] Date 07.09.10 20:56 UTC
Yes - i'm really good friends with Amanda, she is lovely.

Where are you ?
- By sunshine [gb] Date 07.09.10 21:49 UTC
He's a stunner. love the office pic of him.

Gundogs are usually on my days so will try and say hi, might get to see him get BoB.  you never know.
- By SLF [gb] Date 07.09.10 22:14 UTC
Tee hee! I can but dream!
- By Brainless [gb] Date 08.09.10 00:23 UTC
Fishponds, Amanda has even shown dogs with/for me.
- By SLF [gb] Date 08.09.10 08:09 UTC
We may have even met already then? I met Amanda through the ringcraft at Frampton Cotterell.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 08.09.10 08:46 UTC
Yes I used to go, but it is too far to walk, and once I started showing youngster (now 2) in earnest last year at least twice a month it seemed pointless going.

Hopefully I will have a new puppy next year either born March or if not the following season, so will be back ring training.
- By Dukedog Date 08.09.10 18:57 UTC
I think if you were wearing this jumper facebook.com/photo.php?pid=4616578&l=3f8b6315d6&id=286602494 on the day of your wins, then I think you had an unfair advantage over your fellow competitors. ;) ;)

To give the rest of the field a chance at your next showing I think you should wear at least a knitted cardy buttoned up to the neck, Nora Batty's stockings and matronly shoes, and to give them any really, really, realistic chance of beating you, could you take an alternative dog with ya next time. ;) ;)

That said - you have a class dog there, well done both.
- By SLF [gb] Date 09.09.10 08:27 UTC
Hehe that's really funny... I did mention to Chris (who took the photo) whether he could photoshop that area but he said it would look even weirder, LOL!

Don't worry, I show in a suit, so's not to give the judge an eyeful... See... all covered up http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=4587779&l=2c363336b7&id=286602494

Although, I did see a facebook group (possibly on here) which had me in stitches. You must check this out: http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/pages/Dog-Show-Fashion-Police/340757611619?v=photos&ref=ts

All I can say is WOWZERS!
- By Dukedog Date 09.09.10 18:46 UTC
Wowzers back at ya...If you've got it flaunt it that's what I say....Lucky Chris.....

Before I clicked on this link of yours http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/pages/Dog-Show-Fashion-Police/340757611619?v=photos&ref=ts, I was expecting there to be pictures of real hotties on there (and I don't mean the dogs), and I was going to say "I've never been to a dog show before, but I think that's about to change pretty soon", however now having viewed the slide show of horrors, I shall have to re-think........

Ahh what the hell, just to watch the dogs would be worth the entrance fee......

SLF

Well done you :)  Good luck for the next classes - onwards and upwards
- By Brainless [gb] Date 09.09.10 23:31 UTC

Actually very few dogs shows charge an entrance fee.
- By Dukedog Date 10.09.10 06:07 UTC

> Actually very few dogs shows charge an entrance fee.

Wow really, all the more reason to go to one then........I bet they charge a fortune for ice creams though ;)
- By sunshine [gb] Date 10.09.10 12:31 UTC
yes a rediculous price.  But when You've been in the ring and its hot you don't seem to mind so much lol.  And the girls like theirs aswell.
- By Dukedog Date 10.09.10 17:23 UTC
I'm the same, cornet in one hand for me, and holding one out for duke to lick in the other, he finishes his before me but still wants my cone as well after though. It's funny but I'm not one for sharing my food with anyone, but when it comes to my dog he has to have the last bite...usually taking part of my finger with it...
