You may need to help his aim, with a hand!

I suggest you find an experienced breeder with practical experience of handling stud dogs, preferably in your own breed. You may have to may have to pay for their services though.

Are they the same size, because I know that can cause a problem. I noticed when my male bred a female that was alot smaller he had trouble, but she really raised her backend. I just helped a bit and then they tied. If he is way to excited he will overdue it. My male gets pretty excited still and wears himself out, but after he slows down and I make him lay down for a bit everything goes fine. You may have to assist him by guiding him, and someone holding her (I believe that was mentioned already) this will help and make it easier on both. Good luck
ttfn :)

As has probably already been said. I would try to get someone to hold the bitch from the front and then you need another person the other end of her to try and manouvre her vulva to enable the dog to make the necessary contact! If this alone doesn't work, and he will allow you to, with an arm under her tummy and hand positioning her vulva, with the other hand try to gentley assist the dog with his aim. My dog tends to wait for me to help him all the time, which is not ideal but does mean I avoid any problems with them trying to pull apart, and avoid the problems that can arise with an over excited male. My boy almost seems to be waiting for me to tell him it's okay he can mate this bitch. He's a bit of a mummies boy !

I can not help my bud as he thinks he is doing something wrong when i am there so i watch through the curtains, and then come out when they are at it and stuck,.

We had a similar problem with one of our bitches.Turned out she was slightly taller than him so we put them on a slope and bobs your uncle ,they did the deed

Without sounding too "technical", I found with my very reluctant boy that it helped if I sat on a sofa and called the bitch too me so she ended up next to me with her front legs on the sofa and rear end a little lower down on the floor. I could hold her head to stop her turning round and barking at him all the time bribing with a few biscuits. I could steady her body along the outside of my leg and hold her head under my arm in a kind and gentle manner. He then got on with "it" quite nicely thank-you! My daughter thought I was very cruel and came up with all sorts of terminology to describe her enforced submission!!

The first bitch he was introduced to he didn't mate with, the second was left with him for 4 days and 8 pups resulted, this last one (now we've got the hang of it) was much more straight forward and he managed two matings 3 days apart on introduction (6 pups we think!). Don't give up.

PS you can help move her tail to one side with your free hand, making things a little easier.
