For those of you who progesterone test through Idexx, do you generally go for first mating on day of ovulation or day after ovulation?

2 days after

Even if my girls would stand that early most experienced studs in my breed won't mate a bitch that soon.

If they will stand and the dog want to mate then yes, but also two days later and two days after that.

Ok great thanks.  I'll go for 48 hours after ovulation day then.  What day do you start testing?  I was thinking of day 9. My girl is usually ready around day 14, so my entire boy tells me!

Try and  work it so that you test Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, then Monday so avoiding a long non testing with the weekend, as you may have to test every other day.

If based on your entire dog she is ready day 14 she may be ovulating day 10, so I would start testing day 8 or 9, or if you want to chance it day 10.

Edit:  I meant to say those days are when the blood arrives at Idexx, so taken the day before.

The important thing is not the day of the season but the days in relation to ovulation.
