I have a 3 1/2 year old gsd bitch she has always had funny seasons and has never managed to come into season herself (my other bitches bring her in) her first season was at 14 mths her second 9 mths later her 3rd a full year after her second and her 4th 5mths after her 3rd (sorry will get to the point).
Arin was mated on her 3rd season but didnt conceive but she did think her favorite ball was her baby she would try to bury it in her bed and carried it with her everywhere i didnt actually think much of it as it lasted a matter of days.
Well Arin came into season 29th june (wasnt mated) and for the last few days has been acting a little strange yesterday she was reluctant to come out of the down stairs loo and when she did she would bring with her a bone, today however apart from her walk she hasnt come out of the loo but today she has with her 2 of her toys she is behind the door crying at the toys, i have tried to take the toys but she gets very distressed and now im not sure what to do for the best any help.

Aww. Sadly the best thing for her is a complete lack of sympathy, get those toys away from her, block access to the loo as she's turning it into a whelping den, increase exercise, and slightly reduce food.

Definite phantom bless her.

Less protein, more exercise, and give her the jolly hockey sticks approach.  Seems harsh, but it's best for her.

Poor baby.

Would raspberryleaf tablet help the girl come out of it or is that just for physical symptoms.  i give it my girls when part way through a season as a prevetative, except last time when one was mated.

Nothing other to add than what's already said, its the best way to help her.

As others have said take toys away for a couple of weeks. You need to snap her out of her mumsiness.
I would give her some Dorwest Garlick & fenugreek tablets to get rid of any udder she has(if she has). For raspberry leaf tabs to work for phantoms, you need to give from day one of the season & continue until way past the expected due date(if she had been mated), so for about 12 weeks.

Thanks all i have taken away all toys and she now seems more willing to spend time with us rather then be holed up in the loo.
With regards to stopping access to the loo i am a little worried as this has always been the place Arin finds safe as she is a vey highly strung dog and is scared of loud noises so would stopping access to the loo affect her wellbeing in any way.
She dosnt seem to have any baggy undercarriage but has put on a little weight but i thought this could be because during her season she lost 9 kilos!! due to stress ( hormone imbalance) so would i be ok to lower the food
thank again for your replys

bek - if your girl is as highly strung as she sounds, be kind to her and get her spayed.

She is a scared dog, as you say, and it's silly to breed from her.  And losing 9kg sounds horrific.

I realise that you are going to have to wait until she has totally passed through her phantom state, but spaying would be my recommendation.
