anyone remember the original from the 70s? any thoughts? i was disapointed. couldnt feel much between the dad and daughter and she doesnt seem half as spoilt as the original? gavin just seems to be a nut. or am i the oldest here and no one else remembers??

I was quite young when the original was shown, but remember it being fab, I felt it didn't transcribe to the current very well, times, people, perspectives etc have changed too much. 

I will continue to watch it though

ps...Sadly kept waiting for the rest of the cast of Waking the Dead to arrive, surely he just played the same character lol

I think the earlier version may have seemed much raunchier to us back then and very thrilling to watch when Mum wasnt itching to turn over the channel.
Pretty tame stuff these days!

I remember it as being very risqué in those days(!) and even had the paperback. Haven't seen the new one yet.

I remember the original I believe it was much raunchy than this apperars to be my parents didnt watch that sort of thing soI only got to watch odd bits.
maybe I have just grown up and life seems far more ordinary well kind of.
Will watch it this time though.Didnt realise there was a book
Now I come to think of it yes it is the same character acting as waking the dead lol

I remember it was on after bedtime but was a favourite of my Mother's to watch.
