Hi everyone after months of excitement my girl has missed again I did blood tests and the herpes and 2 matings still no pups I am with the breeders club insurance is it worth while having tests done she is 3 1/2 now and a giant breed so can only really let her have one more try Just don't know what I missed x

I am so sorry she missed again. My bitch missed a couple of times and I took both the bitch and the dog (I owned/bred him, brought her in) to a fertility specialist. Turned out he was infertile, but she also had problems with her hormone levels. I'm afraid I never did get her pregnant again, but that was my choice in the end. It really depends on how badly you want pups from her. In my case it was the dogs line I really wanted as I had bred the line for generations.

I had a girl who like her Dam missed on the first two matings but conceived on the third.  Both girls were four years old and both had very healthy litters, four is quite old in a toy breed for first litter. Neither girl had any tests or injections we just put it down to there bodies just not ready to conceive before that.  Good luck with your next attempt.  Sometimes matings go along with nature and not our plans :-)

How disappointing for you. I had a bitch that i really wanted a puppy from for myself, she missed on 3 consecutive tries all had good matings and we tried 2 different dogs, she definately had hormone inbalance as her season were long and the gaps in between were short, on our 4th and final try we got a beautiful litter of 7 healthy puppies and my girl is nearly 11 months old, so it can happen.

Why do you say at 3 1/2 it will be too late to try again?  In my breed we often would not even mate a bitch for the first time until 3 years (minimum 2), and advice is to have a first litter by five in case leaving it longer might predispose to whelping problems.

If you have used the same dog both times it might be wise to try a different stud, they just might not be compatible for some reason.  Has he sired puppies recently, especially before and after your bitch?

You don't mention antibiotics.
Maybe she has an infection in there. Synulox is cheap and cheerful but it didn't work for me. I had Baytril and Antirobe. Given as soon as she came into season and stopped when she was mated. Worked a treat.

I have read that at 4 is probably the latest for a giant breed to have first litter The male has been tested( good swimmers ) she had 4 blood tests This time A fertility vet what tests will they do is it worth it ? I love the stud dog i have chosen :( x

I personally woud look for anothr male they may just not be compatible.
