Has anyone had it done and what did you go about getting it done?
The website is in the USA and it seems a lot of trouble to sort out with the vet postage payments etc...
Are there any companies in the UK that do the same test with fewer risks (from overseas posting etc)..
I was told it was a good idea to get my boy tested and would like to make sure I go about it the right way.
(OptiGen® CEA/CH test & prcd-PRA test)

Anytime I have Optigen tested, I have jumped on the back of a 20/20 clinic.. search the optigen site for any that are due to come up
When you use a 20/20 clinic, you get a 20% discount, plus another 5% discount for booking online..
Vet takes the bloods and completes paperwork, this is sent off to the organiser of the clinic, who then FED-EX all the samples to Optigen
the results are e-mailed directly to yourself, followed by snail mail confirmation within a couple of weeks (my last test, results were back in 6 days)
It is very easy, and uncomplicated, it just seems daunting for 1st time user..
also.. if you pay by debit card, money will be taken from your account immediately.. if you pay by credit card, money will be taken only once the sample is received at Optigen... so the costs may vary depending on the exchange rate on the date of reciept...
My last one was a couple of months ago.. and price quoted on site was $198, but with 20/20 discounts, and exchange rates.. total cost was only $148 (£106)
Darn it...the one I could have gone to I can't because it's too short notice....Will have to see what ones are on for next year but thanks for that...
Cheers

All you need to do is get your vet to take the blood or swab and send it to the person arranging the 20/20 for next day delivery and then they send the bloods/swab off. You don't have to actually attend the clinic.
Unfortunately and annoyingly I don't own a credit card so can't get the extra discount!!
That is good....there is one in the South of Ireland for Sept 12th.... That will do me rightly...
Also someone mentioned to me about the MDR1 gene defect test (they weren't telling me to get it but mentioned it in passing)...is that worth testing for it is £70 from a UK lab...
Cheers

I only have a debit card and got the discount fine.
Hi Julie,
I take it they are for Rush? I can help you with the paperwork for CEA/PRA and I can also send you swabs for MDR1 and HSF4 if you want them. I get a discount on the MDR1 of 5%

That's great yes it is for Rush...will do the CEA/PRA one this month and the MDR1 next month....what is the HSF4 one for? I tried to order swabs but my email wouldn't send it because the e-mail address started with info...:-/
Cheers
Found another solution....they are having a Fall Discount Sept 17th - 26th....if you book online it is 25% off (includes online booking fee)....you then have 30 days to send a sample and this means if you pay by credit card you won't have to pay until they receive the sample...apart from having to send the sample yourself it as good as a 20/20 BUT with the added benefit I can book the test even though I'll not yet have the money (will on payday at the end of the month)...I'll not actually have to pay until mid to late Oct. depending on when I book the tests...
Now to work out how much it will be for the two tests at one go....and to see if the multiple test discount still applies with the 25% off...
Sounds confusing....but I think I know what I mean...:-)
