Topic Dog Boards / Showing / multiple signatures required on entry form

Hi

We have recently acquired another dog, whose is going to be in mine and my partners name, and 2 other separate people's names, obviously online entries are fine to do, but on paper entries, we are only going to be able to sign for me and my other half.  Someone has told me that I need to write a letter stating that the 2 other people give us permission to enter and show the dog (which they are absolutely fine with) and then send off to the KC.  I'm assuming that I don't need to send a copy of that letter for every paper entry that I may send off.  It would just be a one off.

I am terrible with putting letters together, can anyone help me as to what I would need to write/include in the letter

Thanks so much in advance

Vicki

I had a lot of stickers signed by all four of us when I was in partnership with our imported boy.

I have dogs in partnership with other people who live far away from me, and I have never once been asked for all signatures, not even for Crufts. I only ever gave my own signature.

Agree with nursey.  I have a dog in joint ownership with two other pals and it's me ONLY who signs the entry forms (including Crufts).

Most recent KC anouncement...

Regulation F(1)9.f - Effective 1-Jan-10

f. A dog must, at the time of entry for a Show, be registered as required by Kennel Club Rutes and Regulations in the exhibitor's name (or registration or transfer applied for). In the case of joint registered owners the full name of every registered owner must be given.

Where an owner makes an entry on behalf of another joint registered owner(s) or where an agent enters on behalf of a single or joint registered owner(s) such person must have the authority and consent from the single or joint registered owner(s) to sign the entry form on their behalf thereby binding them all to Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. In the event of any dispute, evidence of such authority and consent will be required.

A dog acquired subsequent to entry having been made at a Show may be exhibited as the new owner's property provided that an application for the transfer has been forwarded to the Kennel Club before the Show, and the new owner has undertaken to abide by the Regulations and conditions of the original entry form (and in accordance with the conditions set out above).

In english then - so you need a letter from the other joint owners and keep it in your house in case of any future disputes but it doesnt need to be sent into the KC - am I reading that clause correct?

Often get an entry with a letter giving consent for the person who has entered the dog to do so - simple, one off letter that can be photocopied and sent with the entry.

The say something like:

We the undersigned give full permission for *********** to enter ************ in any show during 2010, to handle and to sign the entry form on our behalf.

The names of the owners are then typed and each signs.

Some do not put a date but I would advise that they do so they still have control over the dog - not so important if the dog is owned by husband and wife, a partnership or family member.

I always just sign it and have never had anyone query it.

thank you for everyone for taking the time to reply, I did ring the kc this morning to double check and they said yes send in a letter authorising the signatures on future entry forms, it's just a one off to the kc and that's that.

Thanks again all, much appreciated
