Sorry for posting AGAIN! But Im wondering if someone can give me some advice on exercising my dog! shes a small breed who is normally bounding round, (my dalmation cross is abuot the only dog that can keep up with her energy!)
But since shes been pregnant shes slowed right down! She dont want to do anything except eat and sleep! She even refuses to move when it comes to doing her buissiness! I have to pick her up and put her out the gadren and shut the door! An even bigger problem is she is refusing point blank to walk anywhere! I had to "force" her to walk tonight and when I got to the end of the street brought her back because she kept sitting down and refusing to move! By the time I brought her back all within 5 min she was panting heavily cl;imed on the settee (she has her own steps to get up an down) and settled down!
Im concerned she wont be ft enough to deliver pups! Shes normally waling for around 2-2.5 hours aday but since shes been pregnant it dropped to 1 hour then half hour and now she wont even walk down the street! The gardenisnt even offering her the benefits of some exercise anymore as she only uses it as a sunbed or to go to the toilet!
What can to ensure her muscles are strong enough and how can I build them up a bit in the next 17 days??? I dont want to drag her out everytime incase she gets too stressed and then causes problems for herself and pups, I have tried short walks but this isnt helping she just dont want to walk, I have tried her separate as well as with my other dogs and she wont budge!, shes not in bad condition at the moment but another 2 weeks like this and Im worried she will be!
I think being a small breed, her walk that she is struggling on might be too much for her. i would let her dictate what she wants. Keeping m,uscle strength was something that also worried me with them not going for a walk but I'm sure she will be ok and strong enough, she has been very active prior to mating so her muscle strength won't just disappear. You have the garden the let her have little walks in that should maintain her muscles.
How far in in is she? She might come out of it otherwise just go with it. i expect a pregnancy can be stressful on the body in a small breed. Good luck.
