Son went for eye check up today and has this!!!!
He is now to be refered to specialist physician as it is apparently an indicator for MS..agh...
I hate MS, and dont want to acknowledge this at all.....
Has anyone here had any experience...NOT of MS, I know it well but only in the later stages when physio bits are required.
But of optical bits as indicators?

Just wondered if your son is experiencing any symptoms with this?
http://vision.about.com/od/sportsvision/p/Optic_Neuritis.htm - Not sure if this is of any help in relation to other things it could be.
It does seem that it could be a whole number of things other than MS which attribute to this.
If they think there is any chance its MS he should be referred for an MRI or at least to Neurology.
Really hope its not MS!!

It was a routine eye appointment, but it does link with headachhes and pain behind his eye.
Hopefully the referal wont take too long.
I have googled some links, dont like seeing them though. :(
I am on 'foo' with this as I want to speak out loud without fretting my family.
They are all linked in on Facebook, but dont look at champdogs...........
Karen :)
My OH has Optic Neuritis, this was found on a routine eye test. the Doctors suspected MS and he spent a few days in hospital having a Lumbar Puncture and brain scan. All came back clear and they think the cause is high blood pressure.
He has lost some vision in both eyes, he describes it like looking trough a misted up mirror with clear patches.
He also has Rheumatoid Arthritis and the Doc thought it may have been a side effect of his drugs but this was not proven. Fingers crossed it is sorted very soon for you both.

How long has your husband had it?
I am so pleased for you that it wasn't MS.........I loathe the disease.
Think it's about two years now, the waiting was horrible as you imagine the worst, but he copes well with it.
How old is your son?
Any history of high blood pressure?

I have to say that reading through the symptoms of MS again i'm getting worried for myself again.
My brain scan was clear last year.
Just today I had a cervical spine scan and the radiographer said I had to attend my follow up appointment and not to forget it, which now has me somewhat concerned and he was very to the point.
As you say its a nasty disease, but most who I know have it lead very fulfilling lives and vary rarely get any flare ups.
You are right about still leading a good quality of life. A friend of mine was diagnosed with MS about ten years ago and she still takes exercise classes and is a slimming consultant.
The symptoms of MS can also be associated with many other ailments and I am sure if your scan was showing something nasty you would have an emergency appointment.
Hope you feel better soon.

> something nasty you would have an emergency appointment
Lets hope I don't get that call then. The radiographer is not a person who can make any informed decision, the scan has to be sent back to the specialist, who I was told would be viewing it on Tues.

He is 23, he is too heavy so perhaps his BP is higher than it should be though it hasn't ever been raised as an issue.
As I work with MS sufferers I have first hand experience of the progression of the disease, probably why I shudder at it.............
Just have to hope it is something and nothing. :)
