Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Entering a show on the day

Need a little bit of help for a friend. She went to he local open show today believing she had entered her dog for that particular show. She wasn't in the catalog so saw the Secretary and was adamount that she had entered. The Secretary checked the paperwork and couldn't find the entry form but allowed my friend to enter her dog as long as she paid the correct entry fee and would look deeper into the error. My friend won her class and was RBOB.

She has since got home to check her accounts and realised it is actually her mistake and she hasn't entered her dog. She's now worried she's going to be banned from showing (She like me is a fairly new exhibiter) but I wasn't sure and just thought that she would be stripped of the RBOB. Was I correct in saying that or will she be recieving a letter from the KC saying otherwise? Will the Society ban her from future shows? Any help appriciated as my friend is rather worried.

The red book says rule F(1) 30a A dog could be disqualified from any award whether an objection has been lodged or not if proved amoungst other things to have been: (3) Not entered on KC approved entry form. (4) Entered after the entries closing date.

The secretary should have asked your friend if she had proof of postage & only took her entry if she agreed she had.
If picked by the KC your friend will be 'stripped'of the awards she won on that day & there may be a fine to pay by your friend & possibly the club involved. Your friend maybe lucky & it may be not picked up by the KC.

If picked up by KC, your friend will not be banned from showing & I wouldn't think the club will ban her either.

She will not be banned the best thing she can do is phone the secretary and say she is unable to find proof of postage, the secretary will then tell the KC what happened and she may lose the awards she won.

Or she can hope, say nothing the secretary will tell the KC what has happened when they send the copies of marked up schedules the KC may or may not read the report and they may or may not take action. If they do not pick it up then things will remain as they are. If they do they will write asking for proof of postage and she will have to say she can't find it.

Providing your friend is honest the worse that can happen is her exhibit will loose it's awards.

No she wont be banned. The worst that will happen is she will lose the awards won on that day.

I suggest she contacts the secretary and explains the mix up.

We were all new to dog showing once...

Actually, it is my understanding the secretary does not need to see the proof of posting - they can not refuse to take the entry unless the dog is sick or aggressive - the matter is in the hands of the KC all the secretary needs to do is inform the KC of the indecent. EDIT: LOL I meant incident  not indecent the KC will come down hard on the Indecent.

This happened to me at Christmas we received a letter from the KC asking for proof of postage/entry - I had left a photocopy of my entry and cheque with the secretary - didn't have p.o.p - wrote letter explaining to KC and that was the end of the matter.  I now always get p.o.p. not worth the hassle!

The rule is Entries from exhibitors claiming that undelivered entries have been correctly posted must be accepted on the day of the show. Such claims will have to be substantiated to the KC which will request docvumentry evidence subsequent to the show.

Yes I agree the sec doesn't need to see the pop but I would say that I would ask first if an exhibitor had it.

Thanks all for your replies. I've past on the information and she is slightly relieved. She's new to showing and has caught the bug so didn't want to be banned from a sport she enjoys.
