I have a peach tree that is so heavily laden with fruit the branches are bending under the weight of them. Due to all the recent rain they appear to be rotting on the tree before they're ripe.
If I pick and ripen indoors, can I freeze them or does anyone have any ideas for recipes?
Great to pick destone cut into slices and dry them as well. Freeze individually then you can stick them in a bag altogether, but when defrosted you need to cook with them. Put some down in a kilner jar and sweet white wine and use them as the base of your christmas trifle - lovely.
You can dry them on a low heat in the oven...lovely. And in Germany a big favourite is to put the peach in a goblet (I can't imagine what we'd use here, but they have glasses specially designed for this purpose and I inherited mine from my grandmother), prick it all over with a fork, pour champagne over it so that the peach starts revolving in the fizz, drink up and eat the peach after. Now who could resist that?
poach them them in a little water and wine then make a syrup of the water/wine you poached the peaches in. Put a little sweet syrup on the peaches and serve with whipped cream and crumbled into the cream macaroons. Ok I'll come to tea now eh? lol
