I'm looking to try and make my own and there are lots of recipe's out there on the net.
What i'm looking for is one that is very authentic, ok very authentic to America, I love the ones I have over there and wondered if anyone has a recipe tried and tested?

Otherwise its going to be a lot of trial and error, which i'd rather not go through.

You will need the Churro shaper though for them to be proper Churros!!
This is the one I have made by Bernar. If you know anyone going on holiday to Spain (or South America <- that's where I bought mine) get then to pick you one up. Don't know if they're available in this Country?? bet you'd be able to find them somewhere.... Ebay and the like?

p.s Vanilla pod sugar and cinammon sprinkled on mine :-D

> cinammon sprinkled on mine

That is a major must for me!!! Love it!!
I was thinking I could shape them myself, but maybe I may need this contraption!!

Ebay - the search starts and continues!!

We just need to ply Rach with some vino and we'll be welcomed with open arms ;-)

I'm sure I could make some interesting shapes to dine on...The shapers are mega expensive..

Awwww do we have to?? Its more fun planning a Spanish Come dine with me at Rach's!! :-P
( I cheat Sue and use the American 'Betty Crocker' shake in the bottle pre-mix! I just add a little vanilla to it)

Well we have something here which we call 'Jersey Wonders', I believe them to the same........
The recipe is simply make up a shortcrust pastry mix but bind it with beaten eggs, then add sugar to taste.
They are always flattened into and oblong shape, sliced in the centre with a knife so that it can be twisted through itself.
Then deep fried and dressed with sugar or spice or whatever.............really really yummy.
:) :)

None going to be made yet, need a deep fat fryer as don't want to risk bubbling a saucepan of oil, a tad clumsy at times :-)...
Thought instead of a churro pipe, just a normal cake decorating pipe would do, a lot cheaper to boot!!!

Attempting a cross post link thingy here (ever the techno phobe).
They are truly delicious and well worth a go.  :)
