Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / false pregnancy help please

hi all
i'm new to this forum but i'm hoping some one will be able to help.

i have a bitch whom i bred 2 years ago, she went off to her new home at 8 weeks old and had a normal 1st season, then started becoming very posesive over her toys etc, anyway to cut a long story short, her new owner couldn't keep her due to her owner having heart problems and i bought her back from her last nov 2009.

i breed mini longhaired dachshunds and as she is a lovely example of the breed, i would love to have a litter from her, BUT since she came home she has always had a dark brown (dried blood ) minamal discharge from her vulva, also has had a very swollen vulva. i took her to the vets and had a smear done as i was concerned about infection, but that was clear and she was appently due to ovulate within a couple of days, so i let one of the boys mate her a couple of times, but no pups!

she is a real tart and will stand for my boy at any time if i let her,  anyway on the 1st july this year the vet injected her out of season and also gave her a vitamen B12 jab, all her bits went down, until a couple of days ago.

her vulva is still down, but she has the dried blood minimal amount again now and she has also started to bag up and is producing milk from her teats!

yes i am awear that she is having another false pregnancy, but what i would like to know is about homeopathic remidies, i have heard that Pulsatilla  or raspberry leaf is good for helping the symptoms but i wonder about the following questions please?

1) i understand that these will help relieve the symptons, BUT will her seasons be as normal?
2) how long do you have to give it to her for?
3) are they actually any good?
4) which one would you say is the most effective?

if the sysmtons are reduced or go away, will she have normal seasons when using these products?

any help will be most welcome
many thanks

Raspberry leaf is designed to give from 1st day of season for 12 weeks, so if your bitch has a false pregnancy now give her Dorwest Garlick & Fenugreek which removes toxins from the body. It will take about a week to go away.
I have give my bitch Raspberry from her first week, we are now in week 8 & all is well, I will continue for the next 3 weeks or so.
It is perfectly natural & will not affect any future seasons..no natural product will.

In this circumstance you're probably right, but remember that 'natural' doesn't automatically mean 'safe'. ;-) There are many poisons that are natural - arsenic, belladonna, digitalis etc ...

Yes, I probably should have said homeopathic

Again, herbal and homeopathic aren't the same ... sorry to be picky, but it's very easy to be confused about different types of products. Herbal products contain the actual substance, whereas homeopathic products don't. Homeopathic products are certainly harmless.

Like you I've always found herbal raspberry leaf tablets to be very effective at reducing the effects of phantom pregnancy. :-)
