Hi guys,

Their was a topic on different nail filling products you can buy, on here a while a go, could you remind me the types you can buy, as I would like to invest in one, do do my two GSP's feet with.

A friend of mine lent me her pedi cure, and my younger GSP was happy for me to do his feet with it, that was after a very very long walk, I hassen to add LOL!!

Thanx in advance.

I just use a dremel tool- love it and works great- think I only paid $30 for it and its rechargable :-)

I use a Dremmel too but it is the electric version...wouldn't be without it now

Lexy,

which dremmel do u have, I have looked on the internet and read up on the rechargeble version, my main query is, will it file down thick nails ok, on one review an owner of a dobie did'nt think it was too good for harder nails.  Dremel Cordless Pet Nail Grooming Rotary Tool (761-030; 7,000/14,000 RPM). which mains type do u own?

I have the 300 series, which is mains & not rechargable, it does my Whippies no probs & I would think it would do a thicker nail....you could do with trying somebodies before buying as they are not cheap. I suspect you would have to change the sandpaper attachment more regular with thicker nails??

Lexy

They do a Dremel Multi Tool 300-30 would u think this is slightly better than the 300?

I have just had a second look & the one I have is 300-25 so I expect the 30 would be same but newer version??

What a shame simpsons don't make that nail grinder anymore, sounds perfect for my dogs thick nails, do u think your freind would lend it to me for my two, LOL (only joking).

Hi Guys,

Recently I had a post asking about products to file my dog's nail's, with very good advice from this site, I decieded to buy a dremel. I invested in the 300-30 and it is fantastic!!

I have used it on my younger dog who is a real woose, when it comes to having his feet clipped LOL, having used the dremel which he was an absoulte dream with! his feet now look great.

I have not used it on my older girl yet, as I recently clipped her feet, but I am confident that if I can do the boy, she will be no trouble.

Thank you everyone for your advice.

The simpsons nail grinder WAS the dremel with a label over it. I have it and I pulled back the label , there was the dremel label.

I used mine all the time wouldn't be without it :-)

I love my dremel too, but did occasionally dremel up the dogs feathers, tummy hair and tails too! I bought a brilliant little attachment from the states that covers the spinning parts and just has a hole for the nail to be shoved through, the dogs are much more relaxed about the whole thing now :-)  If anyone has long coated dogs and is as careless as me then pm me for the sellers email address :-)

It's easily done honestly, with a long coated dog that's lying on the sofa while you do it's nails, you reach under them to do their back foot and before you know it a bit of their hair has wrapped round the spindle part of the dremel and been ripped out! I know I'm not the only one to do it because several borzoi/silken friends have bought the attachment too :-D

It's  great to hear you all love the dremel too. I am also going to invest in the dremel cover, thanks for that Tigger 2, my dog's do not have long hair on their feet, but it is better to be safe than sorry!

I'd just like to check - when you guys say a Dremel, you mean the Multi-tool 300 or similar number that you can get at B&Q/Wickes etc and is actually a DIY tool?  Or is there one for pets that you should use?  It seems a little odd to use a DIY tool on your pet but I guess if its safe and does the same job?  I just want make sure before I get one because I think this would be great for my Ridgebacks claws which are really too tough to clip without hurting him. Thanks.

The Dremel is a multi tool, the company do also make a pet one, Dremel Cordless Pet Nail Grooming Rotary Tool. Amazon sell it, hope this helps.
