Hydrotherapy pools in Scotland?  I know that there is one in Fife and another in Aberdeen, would be better if the pool had an experienced person in charge,,,,,if you know what I mean, we dont just want someone that has a space and put up a oversized paddling pool!

Hydrotherapy pools are springing up in all sorts of places, I have two within a 15 min drive from my home.  One I would use and the other I wouldn't.  The one I would use your first appointment is always with the qualified physio and the dogs programme is set out, it is only ever the physio or the other girl who is a trained hydrotherapist that actually "swim" the dogs.  Lots of people start with dogs who require it for health reasons but then continue swimming for exercise or fun when the dog is better.

There are a few vet practices who now have there own pools but not always manned by qualified hydrotherapy staff.  I know some places shower dogs before and after going into the pool but I know there are more that don't.

There's a good one in the Edinburgh area run by an animal physio which is well spoken about.

Here is a link to the Canine Hydrotherapy Association, members are accredited and you can search for them in your area.

I take all 3 of mine every other week, originally the girls went because Dolly had ruptured her cruciates (and both have varying degrees of hip dysplasia), the beastie goes for fun and exercise, he can never be let off a lead for free running due to his potentially volatile nature - but he loves it there. They all sleep for the rest of the day after a swim session!
