I have purchesed a full breed Dachshound from a person who told me they would regester my puppy with the rest of the litter. I never recieved the pappers. when I returned they told me that it isn't their responsibility to do this and refuse to give me any info on his parents, so I can not figure out how to go about getting the stuff I need to do this. Could you PLEASE help me?
thank you
Steve

Didn't you get any paperwork at all or see the parents before you signed up for a puppy? If the pup were KC registered all you would need to do is send off the form to the kennel club to have the ownership transferred.Where did you find the breeder?
Julie :)
If you paid for a KC registered pup, then I would think you have a claim against this breeder. Were the pups advertised as being KC reg' or just as pedigrees with no papers?
Something sounds very fishy to me, unless the breeder just didn't want to pay however much it is per pup now to register them! :(

I found an ad in the newspaper and answered it. I an told that they have papers for the mother(who died giving birth to the puppies but the man who owns the father can't be found.

Either this is a wind up or you have been sold a pup with no papers and no background information, i can not understand why you have bought a pup with no information on its parents, and what did mum die from. Debbie

What country are you in? In the UK only the breeder can register the puppies or you yourself with the form signed by both the owner of the sire and dam. If the owner of the dam says they cannot find the owner of the sire then I have to assume the breeder does not know who the sire was! It is usual to take the bitch to the dog so at that rate they must know unless it was an unplanned unknown mating!

Calm down a bit Debbie, not everyone is as clued up on buying dogs as you. This person could be quite genuine and has been caught up by a less than genuine person. According to the first post he was under the opinion that the puppies were going to be registered. If this is the case then this sounds like a case of false representation on the part of the person selling the puppies!

John I am not clued up on buying dogs, I am better than what i was a few years ago, and i am still learning. I wish they would post again to say how the mum died. I too was told the pups were going to be registered when i bought my cleo, so i know how this lad is feeling, but what i dont get is i still got cleos ped papers, but by the sound of it this lad has nothing????
How the owner coped with hand feeding all the pups i dont know, i was walking asleep when i stayed with cleo for that first week.lol

Yes Dot I do think so, why do people tell you a lie just to sell a pup, dont they realize what they are doing, i had cleo at lease 8 weeks befor i was told she could not be kc, there was no way i was going to send her back, she was loved by us all.

I had a feeling from the manner of the post that it could be the case Leigh. I dont have a clue about the way registerations are done over there but what people dont seem to realise is that over here it is only in recent years that the KC have moved fast enough for registerations to be handed out when a puppy buyer picks up their puppy. I know that in the past I have had to wait for up to five months! Anyone buying a puppy for the first time in say 15 years could well not even realise that anything has changed!
Best wishes, John :)

Hmm.... im thinking that the pups could have been stolen, that has happend a few times here in Australia, i can't imagine how often its done in the USA! I would be highly suspicious of anyone who i bought a pup off (esp pedigree'd) who said the mother died giving birth, they can't find the father and the litter was advertised in the local paper.
