Hi guys quick question.

A few of my friends have got all there dogs health tested for lots of different things...and i was wondering what sort of tests i could get my pugs? There dogs are pastoral and working dogs which apparently they need health tests? but i have looked online  and cant really find anything about pug tests even on the kc website?
there parents have been health tested and screened as it states on there certificates but im not to sure what tests exactly?!

Anyone got more clue than me?!

This site lists some of the health issues with pugs, some of which can be tested for (and will be by good breeders).

thats great thanks!
I emailed the KC but they never replied.
I have had quite a few people asking if they could use my boy at stud, but i have refused as he hasnt had the tests that people i nkow have got there dogs and i wouldnt want to let someone use him if i knew he carried a problem.

Hi Scotgal
the main health tests done in the UK are for hips, patellas, eyes and hemivertebrae. Sadly however, even if the parents are hemivertebra clear, pups can still go on to develop it. Before using your dog for stud you can also just look out for obvious issues such as stenotic nares (pinched nostrils), noisy breathing (could indicate brachycephalic airway problems) and excessive wrinkles.
I'm not a breeder, but I'm sure Gwen can also help you with what to look for etc.
