Hi Edna! The best thing you can do is contact the
Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Club and ask for advice. They'll be very pleased to point you in the right direction. Good luck!

I'd say your first port of call should be your dog's breeder -they're more than likely very happy to help and they'll want the dog they've bred to look its very best in the show ring. If they live too far away to be able to visit easily they can probably recommend somebody. Good luck!
Hi Edna,
What good taste you have to want a SCWT :) I have 4! They are trimmed, some people use clippers, the main thing is the grooming to keep on top of the coat.
PM me where you are, there is a grooming workshop coming up and I have a booklet ( produced by a friend) that is very comprehensive that would be helpful. I see you have also been directed to the Club site.
A wheaten with a beautifully maintained coat is a joy to see.
They are beautiful dogs and a wonderful temperment.
My cousin's had two, second was bought after losing the first at 19yrs. both breeders she went to offered a free grooming teach when pup was at that stage. The session lasted three hours and proved invaluble to her.
Are you going to the grooming session at the club.

Hi Edna, I also have 4 Wheatens. As mentioned in previous posts, the club do grooming seminars, but it's also extremely important to go to a good breeder. A good breeder will be prepared to teach you how to groom your dog correctly right from the start, and if they are not prepared to provide this important advice, steer well clear of them. The breeder you choose, should not only provide the best upbringing for your puppy, but should also be a invaluable source of advice throughout your dogs lifetime. You find it useful to attend a local Championship dog show, where you can talk to exhibitors and learn a bit more about grooming and showing :-)
